Hello,
After 41 years, I have decided to enjoy retired life and leave behind the demands of working 55 hours a week! As of June 19th, 2026, Ann and I will be stepping down as Andy Wierenga becomes the proud new owner of Lakeside Car Company. This is a big change that has been in motion since January 2024 when Andy became part owner. Rest assured, we are NOT closing and the business will continue as usual. I hope that everyone will still support Lakeside and treat Andy, Jason, Chris, Alexander, Alex, Connor, Daniel, and Gavin the way you have treated me over the years.
It really has been an incredible journey! Along the way I have had the privilege of working with some great people. Not only did we have a working relationship, but I have gained friendships that will last me a lifetime. I truly appreciate all the customers over the years who have been so loyal and treated me so kindly. I have watched families grow, have sold some of you your first vehicles and helped keep families on the road over the years. In that way I feel like I have become a part of some of your families, and I thank you.
When Greg Rogalski and I started Lakeside in 1985 it was just a small used car lot in a broken-down building. I never dreamed it would become what it is today. Greg moved on to other things in the early 90’s, but we have remained close friends. When I initially hired Andy 16 years ago, he told me he could only fill in for a few weeks until I could find someone who could be a more permanent employee. I guess those 2 weeks are still going! He cares deeply about the business, and I know he will do an incredible job carrying on the level of care you have come to expect over the years. He and the guys have been an integral part of the growth of the business in the last few years, and I look forward to seeing where it goes.
What I will miss the most are the everyday interactions and conversations with the staff, and you, the customers. I look forward to stopping by the shop occasionally to catch up with the guys and hopefully running into some of you while we are out and about. If you happen to see me, feel free to stop me and say hi. I have many fond memories and would love to reminisce with you. Again, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey!
