Rustproofing is only as good as the prep work underneath it.

One of the biggest shortcuts in the industry is spraying directly over loose scale rust, dirt, and failing material. That might look good for a short time, but it doesn’t properly address the problem underneath.

This video shows why needle scaling can be such an important part of the prep process on certain vehicles. It helps remove loose flaky rust and opens the surface up so the product can better pe*****te, bond, and protect long term.

Not every vehicle needs aggressive prep work, but when it’s necessary, it matters. A proper rustproofing application should be tailored to the condition of the vehicle — not treated like a one-size-fits-all spray job.

Another incredible transformation completed at Five Star Automotive Detailing.

Adam’s 2023 BMW M550 received:
• Full wheels-off ceramic coating
• 2-step paint correction
• 6+ year ceramic coating package
• Deep exterior preparation and decontamination

This wasn’t just a “wash and coat.”

The wheels were fully removed so we could properly clean, correct, and ceramic coat the barrels, calipers, suspension areas, and hard-to-reach surfaces most shops never touch. The paint then underwent a full 2-step correction process to eliminate swirls, haze, and imperfections before applying our long-term ceramic protection package.

The end result is an incredibly deep gloss, easier maintenance, and long-term protection with a finish that truly stands out.
