It takes a village… and what a village it is!

With several athletes tackling their very first triathlon in just 3 weeks, I wanted to host a little transition practice. I put the word out to our swim club, and WOW did the triathlon community show up.

Jeremy Duvall brought out his incredible SPAREA Products bike racks to help us create a real transition area—complete with racking!

Jeremiah Hiles joined me in the water, while Margaret Petrie White and Drew Catherine supported us on kayaks.

Then Jeremy hopped on his bike and rode with us—one experienced rider leading the way, and another sweeping from behind.

And to top it all off, Miguel Navarro was there to capture it all on video. (Don’t worry—I’ll share that soon!)

I honestly can’t thank this crew enough. This is exactly why I love bringing new people into the triathlon world—because this community is something special. 🖤❤️ 💪

What is "SPAREA" anyway? And how did you come up with that name?
Riding down the road one day the wife and I were discussing starting this company to launch this product. We were tossing ideas out and I realized SPARE had all the letters except the last A in AREA for "SPARE AREA". At the time we were launching the first product that uses your SPARE tire and the AREA around so I wanted it to be about using your SPARE AREA.
So, whats up with the mountains and waves?
A few years prior I developed the first vehicle rack when we lived in the mountains of Virginia. I needed someting to carry our chairs, umbrellas and fishing poles to the beach that year as we were planning to take the Jeep. Later when we were launching SPAREA we had moved near the coast of North Carolina. So, it all started in the mountians of Virginia and ended up on the coast of NC.
How is it running a business with a name like that?
The easiest part of the entire set up was that SPAREA isnt a real word. So, getting the gmail and website were pretty easy. A really great guy back in Virginia designed the logo for me for free. Cant thank him enough as we didnt have any money to pay someone to do it. Gettting people to believe it is a real business and not a scam has been interesting. Teaching people how to say the name has been more diffficult than expected. 😁
OK, so how do you pronounce it?
If I were to spell it out as the dictionary would it would look somethign like this:
sper·ree·uh

The SPAREA Fishing Rack got a facelift! The all new SPAREA FR-4 Fishing Rack is now available on our website! https://spareaproducts.com
Our customers have given us some really great feedback on our 1st Generation Fishing Rack and we used that to come up with the next generation of SPAREA Fishing Rack. The FR-4.
Made of the same aluminum as the FR-6, the new FR-4 installs on the SPAREA Base Platform just like the FR-6. (Or anywhere you want to mount fishing poles for that matter!) And since we are a company that tries to eliminate waste and make products that are serviceable not just throw away, the rod tubes are easily replaceable!
Why do we go to such great lengths to mount these tubes like this? Couldn't you have just used a flat piece of metal? Wouldn't it be cheaper that way? I'm so glad you asked! Surrounding the ABS Rod Tube with the aluminum bracket not only gives your equipment greater security traveling down the road, but also while fishing. Some of our customers actually fish right from the back of their vehicle. We want to be sure if you get hooked up with the fish of a lifetime it would have to drag your vehicle in the water to get away!
Also, if you pay close attention, you will notice some extra mounting locations on each end of the new FR-4. Stay tuned, like follow and share. We are introducing a new product very soon that I know our surf fishers are going to absolutely love!

The 2nd Generation of the SPAREA Fishing Rack is upon us and they are turning out to be awesome! Welcome the FR-4 to the SPAREA line up.
We listened to your feedback on our original FR-6 and made some changes. The FR-4 has a larger diameter of 1-7/8” for those hefty rod handles, the tubes are easily replaceable and they have a notch to keep the reel facing out. We also lined up the new rod tubes so they wouldn’t interfere with the T-Joint on the Base Platform. You may also notice that we added four mounting points on each end for upcoming additional attachments, but we will get to that a bit later.
