Flashback to first October weekend twenty years ago to my brain child the New York City Concours d’Elegance in We were blessed with three days of glorious Indian summer sunshine. Participants came not only from across the United States but also from Europe. The judging panel included amongst others the late who acted also as Master of Ceremonies, 5 time winner , the late , Chief Judge , Honorary Chief Judge and other prominent figures from the and world. The late took home the exclusive one of a kind trophy for winning Best of Show with his with coachwork which had won the at d’Elegance in 2004.
The quality of the cars on display was simply amazing with just to name a few. The list if the included next to a and . The late brought not less than three cars all the way from London, a totally original untouched , a totally original and a fully restored . Other participants who entered multiple cars were from Milan, Italy as well as the late Oscar David and Larry Auriana. It was a fabulous weekend which later described to a friend as a nonstop party for car guys - and it was with breakfast and luncheons as well as cocktail parties and the Gala dinner in tents overlooking the judging field on the I always wanted to come back but the cost and expense for such an event in New York City’s Central is astronomically high
