How to get the right wheel offset.. Offset is defined as the distance inward or outward of the mounting surface from the centerline of the wheel. This characteristic essentially dictates how close or far away the face of the wheel is from the outside “lip” of the wheel, and adjusting this can create either a flush appearance, or the “deep dish” look that’s often seen on highly customized cars with big, flared-out fenders.
