SAND BOX SPECIAL.
When I was 15-16 my dad and I went to look at a VW bug from a guy I worked with that just “rebuilt the motor”
We walked away from it and I couldn’t believe my dad said ‘hell no!’
On the drive home my dad explained to me that that guy was either full of s**t or a half ass mechanic. He went on to explain the red flags of uncleaned surfaces, dirty gaskets, poorly applied paint and little to no trace that any of the fasteners had been turned and those that were- needed replacing for the next guy.
My friend Thom once said, you never know which way something will be facing the first time someone sees it.
I think about those two things a lot whenever I’m working on something.
She’s crusty on the outside but there’s plenty of evidence to show how much care went into the inside.
