🥶 COLDER WEATHER IS COMING… IS YOUR VEHICLE READY?
Cooler temperatures can bring out problems that your vehicle may have been hiding all summer. A little preparation now can save you from being stuck on the side of the road later!
Common cold-weather problems to watch for:
🔋 Weak or dead batteries — Cold temperatures are hard on batteries, especially older ones.
🛞 Low tire pressure — As temperatures drop, so can your tire pressure. Check your tires regularly, including the spare!
🔥 Heating & defrost problems — Don’t wait until that first freezing morning to find out your heat or defroster isn’t working.
💧 Low or weak antifreeze/coolant — Proper coolant protection is important when temperatures start dropping.
🚗 Hard starting or rough running — Colder weather can expose issues with batteries, glow plugs, fuel systems, ignition components and more.
🧊 Wipers & washer fluid — Make sure your wipers are in good shape and your washer fluid is ready for winter temperatures.
⚠️ And if you DO end up stranded…
Keep a few basics in your vehicle: jumper cables or a jump pack, flashlight, phone charger, blanket, water and a basic emergency kit. If your vehicle breaks down, get as far away from moving traffic as safely possible, turn on your hazards and call for help.
Don’t wait for the first cold morning to find out your vehicle wasn’t ready!
