𝗪𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗩𝗜𝗥𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗔’𝗦 𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗖 𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗣𝗔𝗬𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗙𝗙

The August revenue numbers are in, and West Virginia continues to see the results of the economic reforms the Legislature began putting in place roughly a decade ago.

Through the first 2 months of Fiscal Year 2027, West Virginia has collected 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 $𝟴𝟯𝟴 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 in General Revenue.

That puts us:

• 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 $𝟰𝟲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲

• 𝟳% 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿

But one of the most encouraging numbers is Personal Income Tax collections.

𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗧𝗔𝗫 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝟭𝟯% 𝗔𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗢𝗙 𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗧 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥.

That is happening even after we have repeatedly cut West Virginia's Personal Income Tax rates.

Through August, PIT collections stand at more than $328 million, which is 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 $𝟮𝟲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲.

The good news doesn't stop there.

• Consumer Sales and Use Tax collections are 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 $𝟭𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 and 7% ahead of last year.

• The Road Fund is nearly 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 $𝟰𝟴 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲.

• West Virginia's Rainy Day Funds now total nearly 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 $𝟭.𝟯𝟵 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻, approximately $92 million more than at this point last year.

𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗗𝗜𝗗𝗡’𝗧 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧.

About 10 years ago, the Legislature began changing the direction of West Virginia. We worked to reform our tax structure, improve our business climate, control spending, strengthen our state's finances, remove barriers to investment and make West Virginia a better place to work, invest and create jobs.

Those efforts continued and accelerated during former Governor Jim Justice's 2 terms, when the Legislature and Governor Justice worked together on many of the policies that helped put West Virginia in the financial position we enjoy today.

We didn't make these changes to produce good numbers for a month or a year.

𝗪𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗗𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗠 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗪𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗩𝗜𝗥𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗔.

Now we are seeing those results.

There is still plenty of work ahead. We need to keep reducing the tax burden, improving our business climate, attracting investment and creating opportunities for West Virginians.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗡𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗨𝗦 𝗔 𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗘: 𝗪𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗩𝗜𝗥𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗔 𝗜𝗦 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡.

And we intend to keep it moving that way.
