Another major engine job wrapped up here at Dirt Road Diesel!

This truck came to us in need of an engine after spinning the #5 rod bearing, which caused enough damage to eventually put the rod through the block. We got to work pulling the damaged engine and replacing it with a brand new CAT long block, getting everything back together and ready to hit the road again.

There’s a lot that goes into a job like this, but there’s nothing better than seeing it all come together and getting another customer’s truck back on the road where it belongs! We appreciate the trust and the opportunity to take care of this one 👏🏼

A CAT motor job like this is one of the biggest things you can trust a shop with.

This one came in with a broken crankshaft, which meant the engine was beyond a simple repair. Instead of rebuilding piece by piece, this customer went with a full long block replacement to get it back to where it needed to be. That involves pulling the old engine apart, removing everything cleanly and carefully, setting the new long block, and then rebuilding all the supporting systems so everything works together the way it should. It’s not just heavy work — it’s detailed work. Everything has to line up, everything has to be right, and there’s no room for shortcuts when you’re dealing with something that critical.

More than anything, jobs like this come down to trust. Trusting us with a failure that big and letting us handle it start to finish. We really appreciate this customer giving Dirt Road Diesel the opportunity to get another CAT back on the road and back to work!
