Thanks Michelle Slade! Fantastic article highlighting the use of our custom electric solutions for shorthanded and disabled sailing!

At 72, Aidan Collins is the first to admit he is not getting any younger. Nonetheless, he remains active on the local sailing scene, racing regularly with the Singlehanded Sailing Society as well a…

So the PHRF committee hit my J-100 rating for having electric winches and hydraulics. Fine, on my PHRF cert they said that the boat didn't meet rule 52. This is the first cert that ever mentioned whether a boat is rule compliant. Interesting because the Botin 65 Artemis, has all hydraulic winches but no mention of rule 52...???? and no hit for hydraulic winches???? So PHRF, please add another 6 seconds for the hydro winches and add that the boat doesn't meet rule 52. Just to be fair.

Many of you have seen Easom Rigging and Racing is at the center of another controversy. The questionnaire that was sent out by the SSS was a direct result of our electric boats that are hitting the bay and ports around the country as we speak. These boats were created to allow people of small stature both male and female and those of advancing years and physically challenged to sail safely short-handed at a very high level. I can say without hesitation that these boats have brought their owners literally to tears as we extend their sailing experiences for years. I can't ever remember an owner of a new boat shedding tears as they shed the dock lines and headed out with their new/old boat that they feel completely comfortable onboard.
Easom Rigging is the only company trying to keeping people in the sport! No boatyard, sailmaker, marine store or electronics company and especially the local PHRF committee does anything to keep people in the sport. Some of the previously named, actually drive people out of sailing!
I'd like to thank the new commodore of the SSS for the phone call to get my side of this new kind of yachting. The amount of misinformation about our boats is phenomenal, the fact that he picked up the phone gives me hope that the SSS might be in good hands. In the weeks ahead, we'll be printing testimonials from our owners.

Photos from our recent restoration of the Davidson 44 'Pendragon.' Normal Harken electric winch control buttons stand proud and are easily susceptible to being ripped off by a lazy sheet. By designing and 3D printing custom button covers we are able to create a lightweight, aesthetic solution to this common problem, as well as color-coding covers to indicate control of onside or offside winches. Does your rigger have computer aided design and 3D printing capabilities for rapidly designing and building custom parts?

Our last "pre daylight savings sail" on the Eight Ball. Singlehanding downwind with a kite in 18 knots made effortless with electric cabin top winches paired with steering pedestal mounted foot buttons!
