41 years ago today, Freddie Spencer did something no one had done before.

On August 11, 1985, the American Honda rider won the 500cc Swedish GP at Anderstorp and secured the premier-class World Championship.

But that was only half the story.

Spencer had already won the 250cc World Championship earlier that season, making him the first and only rider to win both the 250cc and 500cc titles in the same year.
