Maybe our post yesterday wasn’t quite clear, so we wanted to clarify what we’re looking for!

The article we’re working on is specifically focused on building H6 engines for performance and racing applications — particularly the EZ30, EZ36, and EG33.

The goal is to create a guide that helps our customers understand how we approach building each engine, when we recommend one H6 over another, what components and modifications are appropriate for different applications, and how to spec an engine around specific performance goals.

So we’re not looking for questions about swapping stock H6 engines, common problems with factory engines, or general OEM troubleshooting.

We want to hear your questions about building these engines for performance and racing.

EZ36 NA Max Effort Piston & Rod Details

These pistons and rods are not simply stronger versions of the factory components. They were engineered together as a complete system, allowing us to optimize strength, weight, geometry, lubrication, and performance at every level.

Pistons:
* 92.25mm bore
* 13.5:1 compression ratio
* X forging
* Lateral gas ports
* Wrist pin oiling holes fed from the oil scraper rings
* Under-head milling to reduce weight as much as possible
* 2.6mm shorter compression height
* Ceramic dome coating
* Dry-film skirt coating
* 300.6g each — 33g lighter than stock

Rods:
* Ultra-light H-beam design
* 2.6mm longer than stock
* Asymmetrical design for easier assembly
* Larger EJ rod bearings — 2.7mm wider than stock EZ36 bearings
* Larger EJ wrist pins — 1mm larger diameter
* 4mm wider wrist pin support
* Serrated and pinned caps
* WMC bolts rated for 9,000 RPM
* Dual wrist pin oiling holes
* Thrust-face groove
* 461.7g each — 53.9g lighter than stock

The pistons and rods were designed in conjunction with each other rather than treating them as separate components. Every dimension and feature was considered together to create a lighter, stronger, and more optimized rotating assembly.

At NAS Performance, “good enough” isn’t the goal. We engineer every component to work together as a system, pushing the limits of what is possible with the EZ36 platform.

NAS Turbo Spec EG33 Shortblock! 🔥
This one is going to be a really fun build.
We’re starting with a closed-deck block, 9.0:1 forged CP pistons with Line2Line coating, Manley H-beam rods, a custom ARP 2000 head stud kit, and Cometic head gaskets.
The crankshaft is being polished and precision balanced before assembly.
We’re also building the heads from the ground up with ported heads, upgraded valvetrain, shimless buckets, and custom 272° cams.
A properly built EG33 with a turbo and this combination should be an absolute monster. 🤘

We are building 2 of these for track cars with a goal of 400whp NA. We are also doing a full head build for these as well.
• Closed-deck block
• CP 13.5:1 custom pistons with dual coatings
• Carrillo custom ultra light H beam rods, 2.6mm longer, larger EJ wrist pins and larger EJ rod bearings, asymmetrical and serrated caps
• King Race bearings
• Fully worked & nitrided crankshaft
We will be doing a deep dive post on the rods and pistons soon, there’s a lot of features on them that deserve their own post. But I will say these are the most expensive and crazy pistons we have had made yet. Yes we can also do turbo EZ36 builds destroker.

This one is being built for Chase McMaster and will be capable of 1000+ WHP.
• Closed-deck block
• CP 10.0:1 pistons — headed to Line2Line for coating
• I-beam rods
• King Race bearings
• Fully worked & nitrided crankshaft
• Cut-ring head gaskets
• 12mm ARP 625+ head studs
We’re waiting on the Kelford cams and valvetrain to arrive before we can wrap up the heads. Once it’s all assembled, this is going to be an absolute monster full longblock build. 🔥

We get a LOT of people asking if we will sell individual engine parts and advise them through their builds.

Over the last year, we have made a very serious effort to focus our time and energy on our own engine builds, and it has paid off. We are busier than ever with very high end customer builds and are currently booked out approximately 8 months on custom builds.

Because of that, we do not sell individual engine internal parts or provide build consultation for DIY engine builds.

We specialize in building completed shortblocks, cylinder heads, and longblocks. This allows us to put our time into designing, machining, assembling, and testing the engines we build rather than selling individual parts and walking customers through how to build them.

We truly appreciate everyone who wants to use our parts and knowledge, but this is the direction we have chosen for our business. We want to continue putting our focus into building the best engines possible for our customers.
