Meet the Owner

Hey, I’m Tyler, the guy behind Reno Auto Focus.

A little about me, I spent most of my childhood in foster care with the same family who later adopted me. That experience gave me an early appreciation for stability, patience, and what it means to show up for others.

School was never easy for me. I learned differently and struggled to find confidence in environments that didn’t fit how my mind worked.

As I got older, that feeling followed me into different jobs. I worked hard but often felt out of place, like I hadn’t yet found where my strengths truly belonged.

Over time, I discovered something unexpected. Working with my hands, focusing on details, and restoring what had been worn or overlooked gave me clarity and purpose I hadn’t felt before.

Reno Auto Focus grew from that discovery. Today, every vehicle is treated with care, respect, and intention because helping people feel reset and ready to move forward is what drives me.

Focused. Different. Done on purpose.

No detail is too difficult of a project for us. This Jeep Cherokee needed an interior detail for a trade in. We wanted to give this client their biggest return of investment possible. What seemed challenging at first, deemed like second nature to us.
With the sun going down at around 4 pm, I kept checking the time around 2:30 pm. One of the times, I glanced at the date and a flood of memories over came me.

Two years ago around this time, almost three months went by living off side hustles. Winter had just began and I was too anxious to actually get the business off the ground. I eventually took a part-time cleaning job for residual income at a small local cleaning company.
The kind of place where you learn by doing and every task matters. After months of hustling on my own, that space gave me structure. It sharpened my routines, my techniques, my patience. Cleaning stopped being just something I did on the side and started becoming a full-time craft.
Looking back now, I can see how quietly important that season was. The foundation was forming even when the path wasn’t clear.

By the time I wrapped up the exterior, I stood back and just looked at it.

Not just the Porsche — but the whole moment.
The mountain air.
The way the paint reflected the trees.
The silence after a job done right.

It reminded me that what I’m doing isn’t small.
Even when the schedule’s empty.
Even when my mind feels heavy.
Even when I question if I’m built for this —
the work, the people, the impact… it always calls me back.

This summer may not be going the way I planned,
but maybe it’s going the way I need it to.

The vision is still alive.
And so am I.

Looking Back
I remember this day like it was yesterday — even though it happened over a year ago.

A new marketing company had reached out, offering a full photo shoot for Reno Auto Focus in exchange for detailing both their cars and a few months of their service. I knew it was a big break. It felt like the start of something.

I asked a friend who had been helping me with details if they could stop by to lend a hand. But things didn’t go as planned — they lost service, their GPS gave out, and minutes turned into an hour. I was trying to keep it cool, reassuring the photographer that help was on the way… but inside, I was spiraling.

I called two more friends. No hesitation — both showed up in under an hour. My first friend arrived shortly after, and just like that, we had a team of four. We knocked out both full details with a rhythm that felt like we’d done it a hundred times before.

That day taught me a lot.

Back then, I was still learning my limits. Still testing my will. But what kept me going — and what still keeps me going — is knowing that I had friends who believed in what I was building. Who showed up when it counted. Who saw how much this mattered to me, even before it looked like anything real.

There was a stretch last year when I didn’t even have a car. And I still kept detailing — because of them.

Moments like that? That’s where the resilience started.
That’s where Reno Auto Focus was really being built.
