Out with the old, to make space for growth.

For the last few years, Reno Auto Focus has had “Mobile Detailing” attached to its name.

And for a long time, that made sense. It told people exactly what we did.

But lately, I’ve realized it doesn’t tell the whole story anymore.

Detailing is still part of Reno Auto Focus. It’s where this started, and it’ll always be part of what we do.

But somewhere along the way, the camera became just as important as the polisher.

The cars became more than something I was cleaning. I started noticing the people behind them, the stories attached to them, and the community surrounding them.

So we’re taking “Mobile Detailing” out of the name.

Not because we’re leaving it behind.

Because we’re making room for what Reno Auto Focus is becoming.

There’s something new coming.

And I think it’s been growing in the background for a lot longer than I realized.

Out with the old.

To make space for growth.

Three years later and the show still continues..

We just filed the LLC paperwork for the fourth time for Reno Auto Focus, and I don’t know why, but getting that piece of paper still excites me.

The last three years have felt like this weird dance with the universe.

Some days the phone is quiet. Other days everything seems to happen at once.

And right when I start wondering where all of this is going, a message comes through. A new lead shows up. Or a Corvette ends up sitting in front of my camera.

And I just kinda laugh.

I guess after all this time I’ve realized there’s a natural rhythm to all of this. There are peaks and there are valleys, and I’ve learned to appreciate both.

Maybe that little celebration over a piece of LLC paperwork isn’t really about the paperwork at all.

It’s knowing I get another year to see what happens next.

This video is about a summer spent trying to figure out where I wanted to put my time, energy, and attention.

There were so many things happening at once. Starting a new job. Working on the van. Meeting new people. Building relationships. Going to concerts. Spending time with family. Taking care of my pup and realizing more and more that our time together isn’t forever. Money. Responsibilities. Life.

From the outside, I probably just looked busy.

But internally, I felt like I was being pulled in a hundred different directions.

And somewhere in all of that, Reno Auto Focus started getting quieter.

Not because I stopped caring about it or stopped believing in what I built. Life just got louder.

But through everything, Reno Auto Focus never completely left the back of my mind.

Eventually, I realized I couldn’t keep waiting for life to slow down before deciding where I wanted to go.

At some point, I just had to choose.

This is why we do it.

A 12 year old car. Two kids. A dog. Years of family life.

We’re not here to judge the mess or rush through it. We’re here to put in the time, pay attention to the little things, and make your car feel like your car again.

Reviews like this mean a lot because they remind me that people notice the care that goes into the details. The things most people might overlook are usually the things I care about the most.

It’s been a little quiet over here lately.

With everything that has happened throughout our community over the last couple weeks, it just didn’t feel right to keep posting like everything was normal. Sometimes there are things that are bigger than business and social media, and we felt like we needed to take a step back for a little bit and give respect to everyone who was affected.

But we’re slowly getting back into things, and I figured what better way to come back than with one of the more different details we’ve gotten to do.

This motorcycle definitely took some work.

We washed it, decontaminated it, clay barred it and polished everything back out, and honestly the transformation on this one surprised even me. There’s something really satisfying about taking something that has years of buildup and slowly bringing that shine and character back.

It’s also a reminder that Reno Auto Focus has never really just been about cleaning cars.

Sometimes it’s about bringing something back.

Feels good to be creating again. 🏍️

One of my favorite parts about building Reno Auto Focus is seeing how trust grows.

I had the opportunity to detail her daughters’ vehicles, and this time she trusted me with hers.

That means a lot. A referral from someone you care about is more than just another appointment. It’s someone putting their trust and their name behind the work you do.

These are the relationships I want Reno Auto Focus to be built on. Taking care of people, remembering their cars, and becoming someone a family knows they can count on.

40 years of Hot August Nights. 20 years of watching downtown Reno change.

When I was 16, I got my first job and without a car I had to take the bus. I spent a lot of time downtown waiting for the next bus, walking around and getting to know these streets without really realizing it.

Now I’m 36 and so much has changed. Buildings have disappeared, businesses have come and gone and parts of downtown can sometimes feel unnoticed or underappreciated.

But walking around Saturday night for Hot August Nights reminded me that buildings aren’t what give a city life. People do.

20 years ago I was walking these streets waiting for my bus. Saturday night I was walking them again with a camera in my hand and Reno Auto Focus behind me.

A lot has changed, but the people are still what keep Reno vibrant and moving.

Meet the Owner

Hey, I’m Tyler, the guy behind Reno Auto Focus.

A little about me, I spent most of my childhood in foster care with the same family who later adopted me. That experience gave me an early appreciation for stability, patience, and what it means to show up for others.

School was never easy for me. I learned differently and struggled to find confidence in environments that didn’t fit how my mind worked.

As I got older, that feeling followed me into different jobs. I worked hard but often felt out of place, like I hadn’t yet found where my strengths truly belonged.

Over time, I discovered something unexpected. Working with my hands, focusing on details, and restoring what had been worn or overlooked gave me clarity and purpose I hadn’t felt before.

Reno Auto Focus grew from that discovery. Today, every vehicle is treated with care, respect, and intention because helping people feel reset and ready to move forward is what drives me.

Focused. Different. Done on purpose.
