🐀 Well, this was a first for us! 😂

We had a Ford motorhome come into the shop with a bunch of trouble codes caused by rodent damage to the wiring.

We started tracking down the damaged wires and making repairs, but about halfway through the job, we found something we definitely weren’t expecting...

The pack rat was STILL living in the motorhome! 😂

Apparently, he wasn’t quite ready to give up his home and had been hiding out near the radiator the whole time!

All jokes aside, rodents can cause some pretty expensive electrical problems. They love chewing through wiring, and sometimes just one damaged wire can cause multiple warning lights and trouble codes.

Just another day at QDC Auto Repair! You really never know what you’re going to find working on vehicles. 🔧

Another Duramax getting some attention in the shop! 🔧

We’re working on a 2017 Duramax and installing a new high-pressure fuel injection pump.

These pumps have a pretty important job. They supply the extremely high fuel pressure needed for the injectors to operate properly. When they start having problems, you can run into hard starting, low fuel pressure, poor performance, or even a truck that won’t run at all.

As you can see, there’s quite a bit that has to come apart just to get to the pump! Definitely not a quick afternoon project.

We work on quite a few Duramax trucks here at QDC, and it’s always nice getting another one taken care of!

Another water pump replacement in the shop!

This one came off a 3.0 Duramax that had developed a coolant leak. We tracked the leak down to the water pump and ended up replacing the assembly.

Water pumps are one of those parts you don’t think much about until they start leaking or fail. Their job is to keep coolant circulating through the engine, and when they start having problems, it can eventually lead to overheating and some pretty expensive repairs.

It’s always better to catch a coolant leak early rather than end up stranded on the side of the road!

🔴 A little upgrade for this Ford 6.0 Power Stroke! 💪
We had this Ford 6.0 diesel in the shop for a Banks intercooler system installation, and we have to say, those red pipes really make the engine bay pop! 🔥
Besides looking great, the Banks system is designed to improve airflow, reduce intake air temperatures, and help the engine perform more efficiently, especially when working hard or towing.
We always enjoy getting to do upgrades like these, and it’s even better seeing everything come together!
What do you guys think of the red Banks setup? Would you go with red or keep everything black? 👇

This A/C compressor clutch definitely got a little too hot. 🥵❄️
This vehicle came in with an A/C concern, and once we got into the diagnosis, we found the compressor clutch had completely failed. You can see just how badly the clutch overheated and started to melt.
When an A/C system isn’t working, we don’t want to just start throwing parts at it. Proper testing helps us figure out why it failed and make sure we’re fixing the actual problem.
Arizona heat is hard enough on an A/C system when everything is working right! 🌵

This vehicle came in with a coolant leak, and during our inspection we traced it back to a failed water pump. In the video you can see coolant actively leaking from the pump.
The water pump is responsible for circulating coolant through the engine and radiator. Once it starts leaking or fails, the cooling system can lose coolant and eventually cause the engine to overheat.
Catching problems like this early can save you from a much more expensive repair down the road. 🔧

Sometimes an electrical problem comes down to one broken wire. 🔧⚡
This F-250 came in with the power window controls not working. During diagnosis, we traced the problem down to a broken wire in the harness. We repaired the damaged wiring, restored the connection, and got the window controls working properly again.
Electrical issues can be frustrating because the problem isn’t always a bad switch or module—sometimes it’s hidden inside the wiring. That’s why proper testing before replacing parts matters.

Another one back on the road! 🔧
This vehicle came in needing a complete rear differential replacement. We removed the failed unit, installed the replacement differential, filled it with the proper fluid, and checked everything over for leaks and proper operation.

⛽ This is one leak you definitely don’t want to ignore!
This vehicle came in with a fuel leak, and after inspecting it we found the source — a crack in the top of the fuel tank. You can actually see the fuel collecting around the cracked area in the picture.
Fuel leaks can sometimes start small, but because of the obvious safety risk, they’re something we always recommend taking care of as soon as possible.
It’s another good example of why tracking a leak all the way back to its actual source is so important. 🔧
If you notice a strong fuel smell around your vehicle or see fuel underneath it, don’t ignore it. Have it checked out!

⛽ This is something you definitely don’t want to find in your fuel system…
While diagnosing this Duramax, we found metal debris inside the fuel filter housing. On these high-pressure common-rail diesel systems, finding metal in the fuel is a major warning sign that a fuel system component—often the high-pressure injection pump—is coming apart internally.
Once metal gets into the system, it can circulate through the rails and injectors, turning one failed component into a much larger fuel-system repair.
This is why proper diagnosis matters. Instead of just replacing the part causing the immediate symptom, we want to know why it failed and what else may have been affected.
Diesel problems can get expensive quickly, so catching contamination early makes a big difference.
