We're doing a few changes at the store. It started out by replacing fluorescent light fixtures with LEDs. All our employees who work here are getting up in years, and it seems like Napa's suppliers are making the part numbers smaller and smaller. The fancy lights we went with are the High Ceiling 15000 lumens - boy, what a change for the better. One thing leads to another, so we decided to remove all the tool boards normally seen behind most parts stores' counters and did a bulk display all in one central location. We did inventory and tried to do a 100 percent fill of stuff that was missing. New signage really brightens things up. It's amazing how many catch-alls one has behind the counter; having to relocate that is a day's labor in itself. You know the common heavily used items like dial calipers, cutters, and large knives to cut 3 and 5-inch heater hose, favorite parts catalogs, etc. Something new for four old guys behind the counter - just shy of 89 years of experience behind the counter.

Still winter, indeed. We experienced 70-degree temperatures last week, but now it's cold again. Iowa's weather is certainly unpredictable. Just wait, tomorrow will bring sunshine and warmer temperatures.
