The 300TD is the perfect drivers car. It gets you anywhere in any weather and can fit just about anything you’ll ever need. These are cars that can only be killed by rust or extreme neglect and luckily this car has seen neither. This example has lived a long and healthy life. It’s got around 500k on the body and it’s currently on its second engine. The previous owner was a Eurotech who used it as a daily for a number of years. Unfortunately he went the route of many middle aged men and swapped his reliable old engine for a hotter younger model... The 300TD now runs off of a lovely 1985 300D turbo engine with approx 200k miles on it. He also rebuilt the brakes. Since I’ve owned it I’ve taken it on countless 2-4 hour road trips in every conceivable weather condition without issue. I just got back from a trip to the beach last weekend where I sat in traffic for over 2 hours trying to get back into the city. The engine stayed perfectly level with no signs of stress or overheating. Over the winter I rebuilt the SLS so it rides properly and level no matter the load in the trunk and tuned the idle up slightly so it feels more responsive than these turbo diesels generally do. New battery included.

Cosmetically, the car has 500k miles on it. There’s some dings and some scratches and the paint has a patina to it but the clear coat is in tact and it shines up beautifully. In the Spring I lent the 300TD to Wheels of NYC to use as their merch car at their navy yard show.
