WARNING TO THE PUBLIC! Stop using these shade tree mechanics, I don’t care if it’s a buddy, family member or the guy that’s going to do it for a few dollars. These people don’t want to purchase the correct tools & in this case didn’t purchase the correct part which the vehicle owner & his family is very fortunate to not have been injured badly or worse. Customer brought truck in for us to check out why it felt like front tire was locking up & steering felt bad. When pulling truck into service bay I could feel it seemed when turning the driver side tire was shifting bad. When looking at driver side first thing noticed was the lower ball joint wasn’t pressed in, the nut was completely loose that held spindle to control arm. Who ever replaced the ball joint purchased completely wrong ball joint, left all bolts & nuts loose, the passenger side tie rod nut was also only hand tight. This customer may have saved a few dollars a week or so ago but after the damage caused by them trying to save a dollar is going to cost them double to triple the price just for all the extra parts that was damaged from prior work. Every nut & bolt on a vehicle has a torque spec. for a reason & as a mechanic with over 30yrs experience in turning wrenches I 100% believe in torquing every bolt regardless of how many times I’ve done the job prior. Front end & suspension is suppose to be torqed to properly press into place & allow the correct moment. We even tell our customers to either check their lug nuts after 50 to 100 miles or come back by & we will check them at no extra charge. Rather you use us or any other shop yes we all stay busy & may not be able to jump right on your vehicle but again there is a reason we all stay busy we all take pride in our work & care about the safety of our customers & their family. Yes every shop out there will get people that talk bad about them & also get a lot of people who talk good about them, but the ones that’s doing the bad talking doesn’t never tell the complete story nor the truth of the situation. When we’re busy to the point we can’t say when we can actually start on a major job we always recommend several other shops locally & even ones In Monroe & West Monroe to help others get back going quickly. So people please remember we understand we’re higher than Your buddies friend but does he have a shop, insurance & all the thousands & thousands of dollars in specialty tools that will keep you safe while driving no he don’t & that’s why he’ll patch your vehicle for 50.00 dollars where a shop quoted you several hundred.
