🎃 A little time away from the shop for some family time!

My daughter managed to find one of the biggest pumpkins in the patch, and we had a great time making our way through the corn maze. Of course, we couldn’t leave without spending some time petting the horses, goats, and all the other animals. 🐴🐐

Sometimes it’s nice to slow down, step away from work, and just enjoy a beautiful fall day with my girls. ❤️

Myth Rusters Corrosion Lab outdoor exposure test, two bare metal samples, same outdoor exposure, different seasons. Spring, April, temperatures ranged from the 30s to the 50s. Fall, September, temperatures ranged from the 40s to the upper 80s. The difference so far is hard to ignore. Additional seasonal testing is underway. No salt. No snow. So why is there rust? Temperature? Moisture? Something else? This video shows the bare metal comparison. Protected versus unprotected results are being documented separately. When I moved to the Upper Peninsula, I brought my vehicle from the Southwest. Before I even made it through my first winter, I was already seeing corrosion. That experience is part of what led me to start asking questions about what actually causes corrosion here. The goal isn’t to assume we already know the answer. It’s to test it, document it, and see what the evidence shows. What do you think is causing the difference?

This truck is only 3 years old with relatively low miles, and look what’s already happening underneath.

The aluminum body isn’t the problem.

What’s hiding inside your frame?

This truck is only 2 months old with 966 miles. The inspection speaks for itself. New doesn’t mean it’s protected.
No salt, no snow, doesn’t mean no rust.
Our goal isn’t to scare people. It’s to help find corrosion while it’s still small, before it becomes an expensive problem. Corrosion is influenced by many factors, some of which are outside our control. What is in our control is inspecting early and preserving what we work hard to own. Rust starts small. Inspect early. Rust doesn’t wait.

Although I love protecting vehicles from corrosion, family time will always come first.

I finally got to check something off my list that’s been there since I moved to the U.P. in 2013, taking my family to Pictured Rocks and getting out on Lake Superior.

My dad grew up here in the U.P., my mom in northern Wisconsin and somehow neither of them ever got to experience Pictured Rocks or spend time out on Lake Superior like this. That made getting to do it with my kids even more special.

We had an absolutely incredible day, saw some amazing scenery, and made some memories that I’m pretty sure we’ll be talking about for a long time.

I spend a whole lot of time in the shop, so every once in a while it’s good to step away from the vehicles, put the phone down, and just enjoy being with the people who matter most.

Definitely one for the memory book. ❤️

When I moved my family from Arizona to the U.P. in 2013, I saw firsthand how quickly corrosion could attack a vehicle.

I couldn’t accept it and I knew there had to be a better way.

So I started digging deeper. That journey eventually led to the Corrosion Lab and Salt Country Survival.

We’re just getting started.
