Reminder!

Two complete road closures on U.S. Highway 385 will begin on Monday, May 20, 2024. Closure A is located between the road to the Pactola North Boat Ramp and Pactola Dam and will be completely closed to traffic for eight weeks, reopening by Friday, July 12, 2024. Closure B is located between S.D. Highway 44 and the road to the Pactola North Boat Ramp and will be completely closed to traffic for three weeks, with temporary openings on weekends and Memorial Day, reopening by Friday, June 7, 2024. Complete closures were deemed necessary for the safety of the travelling public and efficiency of the project due to the large amount of material being blasted and moved throughout the closure areas.

The Pactola North Boat Ramp will not be accessible during weekdays from Monday, May 20, 2024, through Friday, June 7, 2024. It will be accessible on weekends and on Memorial Day from the north. After Friday, June 7, 2024, the Pactola North Boat Ramp will only be accessible from the north. The North Boat Ramp will be accessible from all directions after Friday, July 12, 2024.

Access to the Pactola South Boat Ramp will not be impacted during these closures. Boaters can access the South Boat Ramp via Highway 16/Highway 385 or Sheridan Lake Road/Highway 385.

Pactola Slip Holders, especially North side Slip Holders, please remember that construction including closing access to the North side and access across the dam will begin Monday May 20th. This coming weekend (5/11 and 5/12) should be a nice weekend and a great time to get boats in slips!! See you all soon!!

Access to recreational facilities at Pactola Reservoir will be impacted during Highway 385 construction. With the first phase of construction beginning soon, and expected to last through mid-July, visitors should be aware that Highway 385 will have hard closures in effect, limiting access to recreation facilities.

North Boat Ramp - from May 20-June 7, 2024, access will only be possible on weekends beginning Fridays at noon, through Sunday. Access to the North Boat Ramp will only be possible by coming from the north on Highway 385. Beginning June 8, the North Boat Ramp will be always accessible by coming from north Highway 385. Beginning July 13, the North Boat Ramp will be accessible by coming from the north and south on Highway 385. The North Boat Ramp will only be accessible from the north, on Highway 385, over Memorial Day weekend from Friday, May 24 at 12:00 p.m., through Tuesday, May 28 at 6 a.m.

Veteran’s Point – from May 20 through July 12, the facility will only be accessible by coming from the south on Highway 385. Beginning July 13, the facility will be accessible by coming from the north and south on Highway 385. Access to Veteran’s Point may be closed for short periods during road blasting in the area.

Rapid Creek Trailhead – from May 20 through July 12, the facility will only be accessible by coming from the south on Highway 385. Beginning July 13, the facility will be accessible by coming from the north and south on Highway 385. This recreation site is located on the east side of the dam and is a popular location for fly fishing.

Centennial Trail – a short re-route (see Map: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd1166534.pdf) is in place for users of the Centennial Trail near Veteran’s Point. During construction, the re-route at Veteran’s Point will keep users on the west side of Highway 385 to avoid construction activities and blasting. Access to Centennial Trail may be closed for short periods during road blasting in the area.

Visitor Center / Campgrounds / South Boat Lauch / Marina – from May 20 through July 12, access to these facilities on the south side of Pactola Reservoir will only be possible by coming from the south on Highway 385. Beginning July 13, these facilities will be accessible by coming from the north and south on Highway 385.

Pactola Marina is deeply saddened on the passing of Judge Jeff Davis. Over the past 40 years of working on Pactola, Jeff Davis's name has become synonymous with Pactola and he will truly be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

HIGHWAY 385 CONSTRUCTION 2024

It has come to our attention at the latest public meeting the current Department of Transportation plan is to completely shut down Highway 385 from Highway 44 to Pactola lake including all access to the North Marina Monday thru Friday June 3rd, 2024 - June 24th, 2024. In addition Highway 385 would remain closed from the North boat ramp to Pactola Lake all of June and July 2024 Monday thru Friday. Pactola Marina has already reached out with no success to the Department of Transportation letting them know that not only would this be unacceptable for our customers as well as the general public but this is also the boat ramp we take patients of all serious accidents at the lake for emergency transportation. Currently this is the tentative plan and we highly encourage our customers and general public to reach out to Rich Zacher -Custer Area Engineer at 605-673-9014 with your concerns . Pactola Marina has also already reached out to legal representation.
