Here's a good one for you.
This truck is from a while ago.
I towed this truck from another well-known shop in town after the owner of the truck called me and told me what was going on. I got the truck with a no-start condition. That is what it went to the other shop for. They diagnosed it as a PCM(engine computer) so they put on in, had it programmed and it didn't change anything. So they diagnosed it again, fixed a wire on the PCM connector(picture of said "fix" in the comments). That still didn't work so they ordered another PCM and put it in. And guess what? It still didn't work. It wouldn't crank, it wouldn't click, nothing. So, they had it for a few weeks and couldn't get it. I got it to my shop, scanned for the codes and then I printed off 9 wiring diagrams and started studying them to check for powers, grounds, communication, etc. I went through my diagnostic procedure and after a few hours of studying diagrams, tracing wires and testing I found that there was a bad connection on the PCM connector. One pin was bad, not even bad, just loose. You can see in the video that when I push on this single wire it then powers up the computer. So, I fixed the pin by replacing it with a new one, fixed their terrible "fix" and had it diagnosed, fixed and running in a total of about 4.5hrs.
The moral of the story is this:
Just because a shop has the biggest, baddest, latest, greatest equipment doesn't mean they know how to use it, and it doesn't mean they can accurately diagnose your vehicle.
