The Reality Behind “Why Is My Car Taking So Long?” 🚗🔧

We get it — when you drop your vehicle off for repairs, you want it back. And it can be frustrating when the repair takes longer than you expected.

But here’s what most people don’t see happening behind the scenes: 👇

🔧 The damage you can’t see. What looks like a simple dent from the outside can reveal additional damage once parts are removed.

📦 Parts availability. We can’t repair your vehicle with parts that haven’t arrived. Backorders, shipping delays, incorrect parts and damaged shipments can all bring a repair to a stop.

🛠️ Supplemental damage. Insurance estimates are often based on what can be seen before teardown. Once we take the vehicle apart, additional damage may be discovered and has to be documented, photographed, estimated and approved.

🎨 Paint & refinishing. Matching your vehicle’s existing paint, preparing panels, allowing proper flash and cure times, and making sure everything meets quality standards takes time. We don’t just spray it and send it out.

🚘 Calibrations & safety systems. Modern vehicles can have cameras, radar, sensors and other advanced safety systems that may require calibration after a collision.

🔍 Quality control. Before you get your vehicle back, it needs to be inspected, reassembled properly and road-tested. We would rather take an extra day than hand you back a vehicle that isn’t right.

📋 Insurance communication & approvals. Sometimes we’re waiting on an insurance company to review additional damage or authorize necessary repairs. Unfortunately, we can’t control how quickly those approvals happen.

And one of the biggest things to remember…

Your vehicle isn’t the only vehicle in the shop. We may have several repairs in different stages, and every vehicle deserves the same attention to detail.

We know you want your car back as quickly as possible. So do we. But our goal isn’t simply to get your vehicle out the door — it’s to repair it correctly, safely and completely. ❤️

Why do we ask if you’re going through insurance? 🤔🚗

When you bring your vehicle to a collision repair facility, one of the first questions we may ask is:

“Are you using insurance? If so, which insurance company?”

It’s not because we’re trying to complicate things—it actually helps us get the repair process started the right way. 😊

Knowing your insurance company allows us to:
🔹 Understand how the claim will be handled
🔹 Know who to communicate with regarding the estimate
🔹 Determine what documentation may be needed
🔹 Help coordinate the repair process
🔹 Make sure we’re not missing important information from the beginning

And remember—you have the right to choose the collision repair facility that repairs your vehicle. Your insurance company can recommend a shop, but the final choice is yours!
