A check-engine light turning itself off doesn’t mean the problem fixed itself.
Many faults are intermittent. If the computer stops seeing the problem for enough drive cycles, the warning light may shut off—even though stored codes and diagnostic data can still provide clues about what happened.
That information can be especially valuable before codes are cleared or the battery is disconnected.
If your warning light comes and goes, don’t ignore it just because it went away.

Cooler mornings have a way of exposing weak batteries.
A vehicle may start normally all summer, then suddenly crank slowly or refuse to start once temperatures begin dropping. That doesn’t necessarily mean the battery failed overnight—the colder weather may simply be revealing a battery or connection that was already marginal.
Before replacing parts, the battery, terminals, cables, and charging system should be tested.
A no-start needs a diagnosis, not automatically a battery.

A brake that releases slowly is still a brake problem.
Dragging brakes aren’t always caused by a bad caliper. A deteriorated flexible brake hose can restrict fluid returning from the caliper, leaving the brake partially applied even after you release the pedal.
That can cause excessive heat, rapid pad wear, poor fuel economy, pulling, or a vehicle that simply feels like it’s working too hard.
Good repair starts with finding the restriction—not replacing parts until the symptom disappears.

A new part doesn’t automatically mean a fixed vehicle.
