Did you know that at one time, nearly every Timex watch sold in America was made right here in Arkansas?

This aerial photo shows the Timex factory, then known as U.S. Time, shortly after it opened near what is now Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock (Pulaski County). The plant opened in 1958 and eventually employed thousands of Arkansans, including my mother, who began working there shortly after graduating from high school.

For more than half a century, this sprawling factory quietly helped keep America on time, one watch at a time.
