Scooter History!

Harley Davidson… MOPEDS?! Well, maybe. The word Moped is a modern title that is, strictly speaking, talking about a kind of bicycle with a motor attached (hence the word moped being a mix of the words motor and pedal). The first ever Harley Davidson, the Model 1 (pictured) falls into the unique motorized-bicycle category that would later be distinguished as a moped.

However, it might interest you that Harley Davidson did also create a scooter of their own—albeit for a very brief time. This scooter was a 164cc beast dubbed the Topper, and, well, it looks exactly like how I imagined a scooter made by Harley would look. Would you ride one of these to Sturgis if you could?
