Tin Grille Hunters is a collaboration of two collectors in the Tin Grille Dodge Trucks (1972-1980 Dodge Pickup Trucks). Rod and Zac both have quite the collection between the two of them. Intermixed in the truck posts we have saved our personal collections. You’ll be able to easily see what trucks will be for sale and which trucks are our pride and joys. Inside this collection you’ll notice two very different tastes between Rod and Zac. We hope you enjoy the story behind each truck from the hunt to the market. Everything will be sold through Johnson Family Motors Utah Dealer 8601.

All loaded up and ready for the American Fork Steel Days Car show and Cruise tomorrow. My youngest decided, after a long conversation I couldn’t bring all my trucks, (he just told me to put them all in a box and take them like he does his monster trucks) to bring the and the from the collection. The Merrit Mobile is Named after the original owner. I bought the truck in the late summer of 2005. It’s my “toy”truck that some day will get the frame off it deserves. The was purchased from the original owners family in 2008 as a parts truck to finish the Blue Trucks frame off. It was quickly decided that the truck was too good to blow apart. We left our wedding reception in the baby blue in 2015 and I told my wife, this truck will now and forever be solidified into the collection.

Meet the This 1975 W300 joined the collection in 2011 after 6 months of back and forth with the previous owner. It is not for sale. This truck spent the 90's and 2000's in Jamestown California then made its way to Utah. The current powertrain is a 440 with a 727 and a NP205. We are getting closer to pulling the trigger on the drivetrain that is waiting to be installed. We really have not done much to this truck aside from the needed maintenance and a winch upgrade for the rear winch. This truck is a powerhouse but drinks the fuel like its an endless supply. The last MPG calculation was around 4.7. The truck is geared way low (4.56) and can crawl over anything we have needed it to do. We are needing a few more parts before the powertrain swap can be started, so its waiting its turn to be able to go faster then 60 mph on the freeway.

Meet the support staff! These are the trailers and trucks we use while on the hunt, hauling scrap runs or moving heavy objects. The trailers range from our 33' gooseneck down to our lightest trailer a 18' car hauler the JB. There is one ford in the collection and it goes by the black sheep 7.3. All the rest of the trucks are through and through dodge. Trailer maintance is of the upmost importance when you have to simply hook up and go to grab that too good of a deal ram charger!

Who doesn't love migraine giving electrical problems? Its a dodge just add a ground is my favorite saying when something electrical is not working as it should. Some of my pet peeves are wrong color battery cables, red on black and black on red. A key that does not start the truck because someone wired in a push button instead of fixing the problem. Last by not least non sealed wire splices. What are some of your most challenging electrical problems?
