Buying used? 🚙 Here are a few key things I always check before saying yes. It’s not the full list, but it’s a great start to avoid hidden surprises. What’s your number one used car buying tip?

She was told she had to finance the car.

We walked.

And she saved $4,300.

Here’s what actually happened:
It was a certified used car, and the dealership said financing was required. That’s a 🚩 (especially on used cars).

So instead of pushing forward, we stepped back, shopped smarter… and found a nearly identical car for $4,300 less out the door — no financing required.

💡 Here’s the truth:
There are times when financing can make sense (usually on NEW cars with manufacturer incentives)…

But if you go that route, you need to understand what comes next:
• You can pay it off early (unless you signed something saying otherwise)
• You’ll need to request a payoff
• Send certified funds
• Track your title + remove the lienholder from insurance

Most people aren’t told this part.

And even more important?
You ALWAYS have the option to walk.

That’s where the real savings happen.

If you’ve ever felt pressured to finance a car, save this - you’ll want it later.

“I hate buying cars.”

I saw a public post recently from a woman describing a dealership experience that struck a nerve. She shared that the numbers changed at the last minute, she was called “sweetheart,” and when she tried to leave, she says the keys to her trade-in weren’t returned right away.

Whether someone wants to debate the details or not, the feeling she described is one I hear from women all the time: pressure, anxiety, and fear of being cornered into a decision.

Not every dealership does it, but tactics like changing numbers late, withholding keys, or using dismissive language are well-known pressure tactics in car sales. And they hit differently when you’re the only woman in the room.

If this resonates with you, please hear this: you are not overreacting, and you’re not imagining it.
You deserve transparency, respect, and the ability to walk away — always.

This is exactly why Buyer for Hire exists. Follow for car buying support for women.

We’ve all been there and said yes before. But has a car dealership add-on ever meaningfully added to your ownership experience? Please share what was worth it to you and why to help others make an informed decision in the moment! Add-ons are: warranties, paint protection, dent protection, prepaid maintenance, interior protections, lost key insurance, GAP coverage, vehicle recovery systems, windshield insurance, vin etching, nitrogen tires … and more.

Lease ending in the next 3–6 months? You have more options than just turning it in or leasing another car.

Depending on your payoff, what your car is worth, and your mileage, you may be able to trade it, sell it, pull ahead, extend month to month, walk away clean, or buy it out.

This is where a lot of people overpay simply because no one explains the rules. Save this if your lease is ending soon and follow along for clear, pressure-free car buying guidance for women.

Buying a car shouldn’t require you to be someone you’re not.
So many women tell me they feel pressure to be aggressive or play games at the dealership, and it backfires. Being inauthentic feels yucky. So does having a man do it for you.

These are the quiet car-buying power moves I’ve seen work while not changing who you are.
1. Stand up to shift the power dynamic@and limit wait time. Women are busy.
2. Let them speak first once they present the offer. This prevents you from justifying your position and puts them on the defensive.
3. Leave once you have a picture of the worksheet (offer) and the window sticker or stock number of the car. They will work harder to negotiate the deal over email or text and you’ll get numbers in writing that way.

If you’re car shopping soon, save this for your next dealership visit. You got this!

I share practical, proven car buying guidance for women who want peace of mind during a stressful process.

Follow for calm, confident car-buying support.

If you’re overwhelmed by end-of-year car deals…here are the ones I’d actually consider 👇

✨ Mazda CX-50 — 0.9% APR up to 72 months
✨ 2025 Tiguan — Sign & Drive + $2K Honda loyalty
✨ Hyundai Santa Fe — low finance rates

If you need a new car soon, these are solid starting points.
Saving you stress, time, and (hopefully) money — every single day.

My go to strategies for women to get a better deal when car shopping:
1. Just Stand Up. Don’t sit and wait at the desk.
2. Be quiet. Don’t respond or reply for a bit.
3. Move negotiation to email or text. Take a picture of their offer and then take off.
Employ any or all - you’re still being authentically you and better equipped to get the great deal you deserve.
