FALL DECORATING CONTEST: THE OFFICIAL RULES

Everything you need to know, all in one place. Save this post or screenshot it so you're not hunting for it on the 28th.

WHO CAN ENTER
Monthly guests at Countryview and Sundowner. No form, no sign-up. Decorate your site and you're in. Staff can decorate, but they can't win. Sorry, team.

THE PRIZES
1st place: $200 off November site rent
2nd place: $100 off November site rent
3rd place: Two free 20 lb propane fills (motorhome with a built-in tank? We'll pump the equivalent instead)
Fan Favorite: Bragging rights, decided by you

KEY DATES
Sun, Oct 25: Decorations up
Mon, Oct 26: We photograph every decorated site and post the Fan Favorite album
Thu, Oct 29 at noon: Fan Favorite voting closes
Thu, Oct 29, afternoon: Judges walk the parks
Thu, Oct 29 at 6:30 pm: Winners announced at [location]. Everyone's invited

HOW JUDGING WORKS
Our judges come from outside the parks and don't know whose site is whose. They score every decorated site 1 to 10 on creativity, overall look, fall theme, and effort. Highest total wins. A tie goes to the higher creativity score. Judges' decisions are final.

THE SAFETY STUFF
No candles, torches, or open flame. Battery candles look just as good.
Outdoor-rated cords only, kept off walkways and away from utility pedestals.
Stake down inflatables. Texas wind is no joke.
Keep decorations inside your site.
Nothing graphic or gory. Kids drive through here too.

Sites that skip the safety rules can be disqualified.

THE FINE PRINT
Rent credits go on your November bill. Prizes can't be traded for cash. Propane fills are good through Mar 31, 2027. By decorating, you're OK with us photographing your site and sharing it on our pages.

Fall decorating contest starts today at Countryview and Sundowner.

Hay bales, scarecrows, pumpkins, string lights, a skeleton in a lawn chair who looks like he's been waiting on a part since July. All of it counts.

Here's what's on the line:
1st place: $200 off November site rent
2nd place: $100 off November site rent
3rd place: Two free 20 lb propane fills

No sign-up, no form. Decorate your site and you're in. Judges from outside the parks will score every decorated site on Oct 29, so nobody can say we picked our favorites. Winners get announced that evening.

We finally got some rain at Countryview, Sundowner, and the the Bangs and Horns Ranch!

After a couple of dry months, this is exactly what the place needed. The animals have fresh grass on the way, the pastures are going to green back up, and the roads will pack down a lot better than the dust we've been living with.

If you've been out here this summer, you know how badly we needed it. Grateful for every drop.

Countryview Fall Fest + Chili Cook-Off — Saturday, November 21

Fair warning to anyone planning to enter: a Texas state chili cook-off champion has already signed up.

We're not saying you can't win. We're just saying you should probably bring your A-game and your grandmother's recipe.

$775 in prizes on the line:

Judges' Choice ($600 value): A two-night weekend in one of our new Geocabins, plus a seat at the judging table next year.
People's Choice ($175 value): An engraved Countryview cast-iron pot, plus free entry and first pick of cook spots next year.

How People's Choice works: Grab a tasting kit at the gate. It comes with a tasting cup, spoons, and tickets. Every ticket is a taste, and every ticket counts as a vote. The most tickets wins.

Here's what else is happening out on the ranch that day:

Hay rides across the property
Fishing at the pond
Meet our Highland cattle and mini donkeys at the fence line (best photo op on the property)
Mini pumpkin painting
Bounce houses for the kids
Photo booth (fall family photo, handled)
Local vendors
Live music (we're working on it)

Cook-off entry: $25 per team, limited to 20 teams. Sign up at https://go.countryviewresort.com/cookoff-sign-up by November 14. Cooks set up at 8 AM, turn-in is at 1, and winners are announced at 2:30.

This one is for our guests first, but the gate's open to the public too. If you've been curious about what we're building out here on 60 acres in Princeton, this is a good day to come see it.

Coffee with the Cows — This Saturday, August 22 at Countryview

Grab a plate and come meet the crew. Starting at 8 AM in the small pasture behind the basketball court, we’re firing up a full breakfast spread — pancakes, sausage, bacon, and pastries — alongside hot coffee, with our Highland cattle Shiloh, Rainy, and Wyatt out in the pasture, plus the full mini donkey lineup: Chip, Rambo, and Rocky.

Bring the kids, bring your appetite, and come say hi to Countryview’s resident characters. Free and open to guests and neighbors — see you out on the pasture.

Sundowner RV Park has a new home — and we couldn’t be more excited to be here.

We’re Norden Hospitality, and we just closed on Sundowner as part of our growing ranch community in Princeton, TX. We already operate Countryview Resort next door — 40 working acres, Highland cattle, a private fishing pond, and a community that genuinely feels like home.

Now we’re bringing that same energy here.
