Pontoon or tritoon? The difference is more than one extra tube.

A traditional pontoon uses two aluminum tubes to support the deck. They’re a great fit for cruising, entertaining and relaxed days on the water, and their lighter design can mean you don’t need as much horsepower to get the experience you’re looking for.

A tritoon adds a third tube down the center, which increases buoyancy and changes how the boat performs. That additional support can allow for higher horsepower, heavier loads and stronger performance, particularly when accelerating, running at higher speeds or dealing with rougher water.

But does that mean everyone needs a tritoon? No.

If your perfect lake day is cruising, swimming and hanging out with family and friends, a pontoon may give you everything you need. If you regularly carry a bigger crew, want more horsepower, enjoy watersports or prioritize performance, a tritoon may be worth the step up.

The better question isn’t “Which one is better?”

It’s “Which one fits the way I actually boat?”
