The Rose Cup Races are coming up on July 12 - 13th and there is a need for volunteers to help with this event. It's a good way to meet new people, learn more and get up close to the auto racing action.

AVAILABLE MARSHAL SPECIALTIES:

Driver Services: works with driver registration to assist drivers with questions
Flagging & Communications Marshals: operate various flags and radio communications
Hospitality: coordinate and distribute supplies and equipment for various worker specialties before, during and after each day
Hot Pits: monitor and provide support on pit lane during on-track sessions
Paddock: oversees paddock areas and the movement of race vehicles
Pre-Grid: organize and stage the release of cars to track entrance by placing them in the right order per grid sheets provided by timing and scoring.
Race Operations: various specialties, including equipment distribution, race control, start team, sound, pace car, driver and worker registration
Safety: assist with on-track incidents and manual labor operations, must be able to carry a 20 lb. fire bottle and run long distances

Sadly, the great racer Arnie Loyning passed away this morning. Jess Heitman was fortunate to have the opportunity to race and win in Arnie's award-winning Lotus for a couple of years. Arnie started racing at Pacific Raceways, had an extensive racing history. He also was an accomplished sailor, originally from Norway. Now Jess and Arnie are swapping racing stories together up above.

MIATA REUNION, 35th anniversary of the first Miata at Sonoma Raceway on November 1 - 3, 2024. Miata designers Tom Matano, Norm Garrett and Ken Saward plus Miata racing champion Randy Pobst joined the celebration. Visitors from all over the world as well as vendors participated on track, parade laps, presentations, car show, socializing and enjoyed good food together.

Two weeks ago, Addie had the pleasure of working with some longtime friends and met new people at the 2023 Miata Reunion at Sonoma Raceway. About 1,000 Miatas from all over the US and guests from all over the world. Hot laps, vendors, car show, autographs, banquet, parade lap, expert talks from MAZDA designers, Memorial recognition of Jess Heitman, etc. We all are looking forward to next year's Reunion!

Sadly Woodstock Motorsports' doors closed forever with Jess Heitman's passing in September 2022. Now the good news: James Pierce, a former Jess Heitman employee, is now set up for business at 4230 NE Sumner St., Bldg. B to service your engine and machining needs. Please stop by or give James a call to discuss any machining needs you may have. He has a race car too that Thomas Micich has raced.

Come out to PIR for rides in all types of fast cars on track for a fee to benefit two veteran organizations. There will be a dunk tank, Star War characters plus great races. Tell your friends to join us if they ever wondered how it feels to go really fast on the track at PIR. :-)
