🚗 Before You Drop Off Your Vehicle for Repairs: Quick Checklist 📋

Getting into an accident is stressful enough. We want to make your repair experience as smooth and convenient as possible. Here’s how to prepare before your scheduled drop-off:

✅ 1. File your insurance claim.
Contact your insurance company and report the accident.

✅ 2. Verify your coverage.
Ask these important questions:
• Do I have collision coverage?
• What is my deductible?
• Do I have rental car coverage?
• How many days of rental are covered?

✅ 3. Reserve your rental vehicle.
If your policy includes rental coverage, arrange your reservation before your repair appointment. We also offer a Rental Concierge Service, where the rental company can pick you up directly from our shop and take you to their nearby branch.

✅ 4. Complete our online Customer Intake Form.
Before your appointment, we’ll send you a secure online intake form. Completing it at home saves time by collecting your contact information, vehicle details, insurance information, and claim information in advance.

Instead of spending 30 minutes filling out paperwork in our office, you can simply drop off your keys and be on your way.

✅ 5. Remove all personal belongings.
Please take everything you want to keep with you, including garage door openers, electronics, chargers, sunglasses, paperwork, medications, and valuables.

✅ 6. Is your vehicle unsafe to drive?
If your vehicle is not safe to operate after the accident, don’t worry. Insurance is generally responsible for paying reasonable towing costs for a covered collision claim. We can help coordinate towing directly from the accident scene or your home to our facility.

Oregon law gives YOU the right to choose the collision repair shop you trust.

An insurance company cannot require you to use one of its preferred or network repair shops.

If you hear statements like:

❌ “You’ll have to pay out of pocket if you don’t use our network shop.”

❌ “Your repairs won’t be warranted.”

❌ “We only guarantee repairs at our preferred shop.”

❌ “Your claim will be delayed if you choose another repair facility.”

Ask questions. Those statements may be misleading depending on your claim and may constitute prohibited insurance steering or other unfair claim settlement practices.

A reputable collision repair facility stands behind its workmanship. Your choice of repair shop does not eliminate your legal right to have a covered loss adjusted according to your insurance policy.

Hidden Damage Is Often Worse Than It Looks 👀

What you can see after a collision is often only a small part of the damage.

Modern vehicles are built with multiple layers of structural components, reinforcements, sensors, brackets, and safety systems hidden behind the bumper and body panels. Even a low-speed impact can cause damage that simply isn’t visible from the outside.

That’s why a visual estimate is never the complete story.

Once your insurance company approves the initial claim, the next critical step is to drop your vehicle off for a complete teardown and disassembly 🛠️

During the repair process, we:

✅ Inspect all structural and hidden components.
✅ Identify any unseen damage.

At Professional Auto Body & Paint, we never jeopardize quality when it comes to auto body repairs, parts, or body supplies.

Body supplies matter. Seam sealers, corrosion protection, cavity wax, undercoating, welding prep, flex additives, adhesives, and paint prep materials all play an important role in helping protect your vehicle after a collision repair.

There are many aftermarket and low-cost products available, but not all products are created equal. Using cheap, non-OEM, non-trusted, or insurance-grade materials can affect the longevity, protection, and overall quality of the repair. Over time, poor-quality materials may lead to future issues such as corrosion, moisture problems, failed sealers, or additional damage.

That is why we follow OEM repair procedures and use trusted, OEM-recommended body supplies whenever required for the repair. Our goal is to repair your vehicle as close to pre-loss condition as possible, with quality, integrity, and long-term protection in mind.

Insurance companies may focus on cost control, but we focus on proper repairs. When OEM-recommended body supplies are required, we document them and bill for them properly on the repair estimate.

We are not here to advocate for the insurance company. We are here to advocate for the vehicle owner, the repair, and the safety and longevity of your vehicle.

💥 BEFORE ➜ AFTER | Back to Pre-Loss Condition 💙

A hard rear-end collision doesn’t have to be the end of your favorite car.

This beautiful 2023 Hyundai Elantra N came to us with significant rear-end damage. After a complete teardown, OEM repair planning, and meticulous refinishing, we restored it back to pre-loss condition.

One of the biggest challenges was matching Hyundai’s stunning Performance Blue paint. This unique color requires precision, experience, and attention to detail to achieve a factory-quality finish. We couldn’t be happier with the final result.

The best part? We were able to get this owner’s pride and joy back on the road. Knowing it can be driven with confidence again makes every repair worthwhile.
