🚗⛵ A day of cars, boats, and family.

Keith Martin spent the day at the 25th Annual Collector Car and Boat Show in Lake Oswego, Oregon — with his son Bradley by his side. With 200 cars, 40 boats, and around 5,000 people in attendance, there was plenty to see, talk about, and debate.

From a stunning yellow Pantera and an original 289 Cobra to a beautifully restored Fiat 850 Spider, Keith and Bradley took it all in.

And then came the big question: 🤔

Should a replica be allowed to win Best of Show?

A beautifully executed Beck 550 Spyder replica took home the top award, sparking a debate Keith couldn’t resist weighing in on.

🚨 Only 12 were built. And one just sold for $1.13 million.

Meet the 1966 Aston Martin DB5 Shooting Brake — a rare twist on one of the world’s most iconic sports cars. 🇬🇧

Built by Harold Radford for owners who wanted their DB5 to be a little more practical for country life, these cars could carry everything from hunting gear to fishing equipment… and, in David Brown’s case, his beloved Labrador, Candy. 🐕

This example, finished in Aston Silver Birch, sold for $1,132,925 (£848,750) at RM Sotheby’s Epsom on July 8, 2026.

With just 12 produced, DB5 Shooting Brakes rarely come to market. And with standard DB5s approaching $1 million, was this ultra-rare estate version actually a bargain?

🚘 A one-off Cord prototype with a remarkable history.

Built in 1936 as a potential “Baby Duesenberg,” this Cord Experimental Prototype Berline was once the personal car of E.L. Cord and his family. With LeBaron coachwork, styling by Ralph Roberts and a supercharged Cord V8, it represents a fascinating—and nearly forgotten—chapter in American automotive design.

After years of neglect, the car was acquired by Bill Harrah in 1964 for just $650 and restored by the Harrah’s restoration shop in 1970. Today, it remains the only known surviving example of the four prototype bodies built.

So what was this unique piece of Cord history worth? At Bonhams’ Reno auction, the one-off prototype sold for $358,400, including buyer’s premium.

SCM STAFFER QUESTION: TO PASHA OR NOT TO PASHA? 🤔

One of our SCM staffers bought this Porsche 928 a few months ago, and it currently has a dove grey interior.

But there’s a question on his mind: 928s with Pasha interiors have been bringing significantly more money lately than their plain-interior counterparts.

So… should he make the switch?

A Pasha conversion would cost approximately $4,000–$5,000. The big question is: would he get that money back when it comes time to sell—or is he better off leaving the original dove grey interior alone?

And if you wouldn't go Pasha, what would you do instead?

🏎️ Looking back at an unforgettable Monterey Car Week 2026! 🏁

Every August, the Monterey Peninsula becomes the center of the automotive world as collectors, enthusiasts, racers and some of the rarest cars in existence come together for a week celebrating everything from vintage motorsport to concours elegance.

We had the opportunity to capture some of the incredible moments throughout the week — including the Rolex Circle of Champions “Best of Show” award at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, the legendary racing at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and the stunning automobiles on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

With rare and historic cars, high-end gatherings, fierce vintage racing, incredible debuts and countless automotive events happening throughout Monterey and Carmel, there was no shortage of things to see.
