Two hundred fifty years ago, ordinary people made an extraordinary choice. They risked everything for an idea—that freedom is worth defending.

Tonight, as the skies fill with red, white, and blue, remember that liberty has never been free. It has been earned, protected, and passed from one generation to the next by those willing to serve something greater than themselves.

From the men and women of the PPD, thank you to all who have worn our nation's uniform, answered the call to serve, and continue to protect our communities.

We extend our gratitude to the Portland TN Police Department and Portland, TN Fire Department for their assistance with the fully loaded commercial vehicle fire that shut down Highway 109, allowing our team to clear the road before morning rush and keeping Portland operational.
