Awesome day of racing! It was a Gulf Coast scorcher today, thus we pushed our start time back which worked out great! Thank you to our racers and you supporting the hobby shop. Thank you to Melanie for running the Hobby Shop! She’s been a huge help and it’s appreciated beyond measure! You have a gift coming on June 27th!

Congratulations to our podium finishers. Next up, LSDOS and WFO, we return to racing for Round #4 of the 517 Championship Series June 27th. We will have a 6pm start on June 27th, mark your calendars.

A covered dirt oval and pit spaces is real, was happy to share the discussion with our racers and I’m excited to see the future of 517! You make our track successful through your support. Racers, tomorrow is Raceday! The third race in the 517 Points Championship Series kicks off Saturday, May 30th. This event marks the third of eight races in the 2026 championship series. Remember, you may drop two results from the eight events. After a weekend and week of flooding rains, we are ready race!

Our race day schedule is posted below:
• Pit Gates Open: 9am
• Race Registration: 1-2:30pm
• Open Practice: 11am-2:30pm
• Track Maintenance: 2:30-2:50pm
• Drivers Meeting: 2:50pm
• Racing @ 3:00pm
• Points Racing Entry Fees: 25$ per class
* Non-Points Classes: GROM Late Models, Losi Nascar, Novice: $20

Remember, you may drop two results from the eight events. May 23rd was a complete washout! I know this date may not fit everyone’s schedule but there is lots of racing ahead and remember you receive two drops.

I do have a new Losi Sprint Car for sale in the box if anyone is interested.

Racers, I’m sorry to announce, this weekend’s 517 Championship Series points race has been canceled due to unfavorable weather and saturated grounds. Although we can pit on the slab, the parking areas are wet.

Several inches of rain fell Wednesday, more Thursday morning, and strong storms are expected Friday and DURING Saturday’s racing program. Unlike LSDOs, these rains have dropped water atop the fastest RC dirt oval in Texas! Fastest.....

This allows time to adjust your weekend plans and, if you choose, travel elsewhere to race. I dislike rainouts, especially because rescheduling make-up dates can be difficult and I feel like the Grinch!

With that in mind, would you racers be interested in holding our series make-up race on Saturday, May 30th, NEXT weekend!!

The dust is settling and I’m catching up on needed stress free days and rest, but May 23rd we return to our 517 2026 Championship Series!!

Let’s recharge, recoup from an awesome LSDOS weekend, let our Love Boat cruisers get over sea sickness 🤣 and prepare your cars for a day of racing on Saturday May 23rd!!

I want to thank everyone that joined us for Round #3 of the Lone Star Dirt Oval Series. The weather forecast was challenging leading up to Saturday but we were blessed with great weather the entire weekend.

The weather scared a few away but another great LSDOS turnout of more than 150 entries. I saw support from almost every dirt oval venue in Texas and met a lot of new people for the first time. I appreciate everyone that supports our bullring on the Gulf Coast!! The LSDOS continues at Thompsons in June.

The 517 2026 Championship Series returns to action after a weekend off Saturday May 23rd.

Thanks to our track sponsors, LSDOS, and those special ones that offered a helping hand this weekend, Jay Black, Paul Gaertner, Dale Vannoy, and RC Grove. This was my first go without my Uncle Roger regarding track prep. I was a little lost Thursday and Friday but I think it held up with over 14000 laps of racing, not including practice.

Lastly, I’m keeping the many 94% Accuweather rain chance texts for my scrapbook……Paul!! 😀

We are set to go for Lone Star Dirt Oval Series at 517 Motorplex this Saturday May 9th! The rain has held off though the text messages showing 85% today! Living on the Gulf Coast, you understand the patterns!

Track is covered in case we get wet over night but we had a great night of practice and looking forward to a great day tomorrow! Thank you to those than ran practice tonight and I appreciate everyone and your support of this great series and 517 Motorplex!
