Yesterday's project in St. Marys, GA was a fun one. 2023 Insetta 35IFC, foil assisted catamaran.
You could really feel when the foil lifted the boat up and the noise of water rushing against the hull went away. Impressive fuel consumption while running 44.6 MPH and getting almost 1.9 miles per gallon, with bottom paint! That's with a pair of Mercury 300's that would be underpowered on most other catamarans of the size.

I've surveyed some pretty neat boats but today's project was something entirely different, a 2026 Panther XL.

Boat owners, always supervise the boatyard when they’re blocking your boat for storage. Severe delamination of the fiberglass on this sailboat where the jack stands were located because the yard did not rest the boat’s weight on its keel. Also, jack stands should be placed no more than 10 feet apart.
This is another reason why you should always hire a qualified Marine Surveyor before you buy a boat.

This is why I make the extra effort to look in the ‘hard to get at’ places on every boat I survey. Nobody expects to find cracked stringers like this one, but it happens. Saved my customer a lot of money and headache on this day.

I'm proud to announce that yesterday I completed my Diesel Engine Technician Certification with the ABYC (American Boat & Yacht Council). I'm now a Certified Marine Technician with ABYC certifications in Standards, Electrical, Corrosion, and Diesel Engines. When I survey your boat you can be assured that I'm not just saying I have experience and knowledge, I also have proven credentials. 😃

RIP Jimmy Buffet and thanks for all the great music. It's safe to say he was an influence in my life and part of the reason I wanted to take off and live on a sailboat. Here I am doing my best JB imitation 25 years ago off of West Caicos. 😀
