Nikola Tesla was one of the most influential inventors in the history of science and technology. Born in 1856 in what is now Croatia, Tesla became famous for his groundbreaking work on alternating current (AC) electricity, a system that allows electricity to be transmitted over long distances. Today, the AC system he helped develop powers cities and homes around the world.
During his career, Tesla worked with several important figures, including Thomas Edison and later George Westinghouse, who supported Tesla’s ideas about AC power. His inventions and discoveries played a major role in building the modern electrical system that the world still relies on today.
Despite his brilliant mind and major contributions, Tesla struggled financially in his later years. Many of his ideas were ahead of their time, and he often had difficulty turning his inventions into lasting business success. As he grew older, he lived quietly at the New Yorker Hotel in New York City.
Nikola Tesla passed away on January 7, 1943, alone in his hotel room. Although he did not pass away wealthy or widely celebrated at the time, his work later gained worldwide recognition. Today, Tesla is remembered as a visionary inventor whose ideas helped shape the modern technological world.
