Put the pressure washer down. Seriously.

This one rolls into my shop more than you would think: a cart with a dead dash, a glitchy controller, or a charge port that will not make contact, and the story always starts with "I just washed it." A pressure washer blasts water past the seals and straight into the dash, the electronics, and the charge port. Those seals are built for rain, not a point-blank blast.

The recipe is boring and it works: garden hose, a bucket of soapy water, a microfiber cloth. Rinse the mud off, wipe it down, dry the charge port, done. Your cart will thank you.

The dumbest cart repair I see? A charge plug melted because the port sat wet.

You wash the cart, water pools in the charge port, the pins start to corrode. Corroded pins mean resistance — and resistance under charge means heat. Enough heat and the plug melts into the connector, or the charger starts faulting out and you swear the charger died when the charger was innocent the whole time.

Here's the part nobody tells you: corrosion makes the charger read the pack wrong. It sees a full voltage, thinks the batteries are topped off, and shuts down early. So you drive on a "full" charge that never actually was one — and the pack ages faster. All from one wet plug.

The fix costs nothing. Cap the port before you wash. If it gets wet, blow it out, let it dry, then plug in. Thirty seconds.

I buy carts every day. Here's what I check before any of them gets a spot on my lot.

1. The battery date code — not the cart's year. A "like new" cart on five-year-old batteries is a bill waiting to happen. (This is why every new DACH I sell runs 72V lithium — you never water a battery again.)

2. The title. "Street legal" in Florida means a VIN and a real title. Ask to see it before you ask the price.

3. The charger. Test it on the lot. If the seller won't let you, walk.

Straight answer: no. Your hill is a battery test, and your cart can't fake it.

A healthy pack holds its speed all the way up. If yours sags halfway and limps the rest of the way, the cells are aging — no amount of watering or charging brings them back.
