2x Black Flag Audio Hurricane Prototypes finished!!!

They are not identical as both had different techniques used to bend the Acrylic Shells but they are incredibly powerful! When the fans kick on they create enough thrust to move across the table if not secured! They also don't have blade guards so they can remove fingers...

Truly the MOST POWERFUL FANS out there!!!

Haven't really been able to get back to the Hurricane Prototypes lately but here are the first 2x Acrylic Clam Shells for the 2x fan assemblies. Decided against making the first Prototypes with more than 2x fans since 2x of these fans clocked over 400cfm of air flow!

Parts for the Hurricane Prototypes start arriving tomorrow and key build parts for the Cannon Coolers are still on backorder...

Testing the Custom RGB setup for the fan assemblies in a dark environment.. Only 3x of the 4x fans have lights attached so that's why one isn't lit up.

They are definitely BRIGHT enough to catch someone's attention, that's for sure..

Unfortunately though, the RGB Lights have to be installed on the exhaust side of the fans being that testing them on the intake causes horrible amounts of noise and cavitation with the fan blades!.. However this results in a nozzle effect causing the fan to blow directly at what it's pointing at instead of a larger area. It does change the light effects a little but improves the fans cooling ability in the end.

- Fan 2 having the fastest zero to max rpm with a 190cfm output at 4500 rpms and 3.0 amps of current draw.

- Fan 4 being the cheapest and loudest has the second longest zero to max rpm but the highest output resulting in the fan actually lifting itself off the counter. Putting out an astonishing 267cfm at 5700 rpms with 2.95 amps of current draw.

What are your thoughts?..

When is too much CFM too much, are flying fans enough to satisfy Car Audio Fanatics? 🤣 🤣 🤣

Don't mind the kitchen counter as a test bench, I was excited to test the new fan as soon as it arrived!

Yes that's a roll of tape preventing it from spinning out of control and yes the fan wires are taped to the counter top.. 😆

Ok Black Flag Audio Official followers.. What is the most important of the following for a fan assembly in your vehicle?

1- LED Lights (Slightly Reduced Output, Higher Price)

2- Compact Size (Less Output, Slightly Cheaper)

3- Quietness (Much Less Output)

4- High Output (More Noise, Higher Price, Larger Size)

Price is a given of course and some choices have their corresponding negative effects so you cannot choose Quiet Operation and High Output..

The Black Flag Audio 4 Barrel Cannon Cooler is 2" tall by 6" wide by 24" long and produced a combined output of roughly 160cfm with a ultra quiet operation of less than 35db.. This is alot of air given its incredibly quiet operation.

The Black Flag Audio Hurricane Four Fan Assembly would be 2.5" wide by 6" tall by 22" long and would produce a combined output upwards of 800cfm but with a estimated 70+db noise output..

Yes comparing 160cfm to 800cfm is like comparing a shopping cart to a Ferrari but would you sacrifice Quietness for Air Flow?..

I suppose the Cannon Coolers are best suited for SQ builds where unnecessary noise is unwanted and the Hurricane Fans are more for the SPL builds where cooling the amps is the primary objective..

Head to head comparison between two potential fans to choose the winner for the Hurricane Prototypes!

So far one of the four fan options has been almost completely ruled out due to Low Max Air Flow but it is the quietest of the four!

Fan on the left is a 3.0a brushless that you can hear get to 4000 rpms almost immediately where the Fan on the right is a 2.55a brushless and takes a few seconds longer to get to its peak 4500 rpm speed..

The last competitor is a 2.95a 5500 rpm fan that likely has the advantage in output but may be the loudest....

One of four possible fans being tested for the Hurricane Fan Assemblies..

The Cannon Coolers focused on being sleek and quiet but Hurricanes are anything but sleek and quiet!..

The 200cfm from this single fan is rather noisy! 😆

Test fitting on one of four fan options for the Hurricane Fan prototypes, will be selecting the fan I go with based on price, output and noise.

What happens when you combine multiple custom RGB leds with the Pirate Module?..

You get Pirate Colors for Hurricane Fans!

Testing starts soon on the 600+ CFM three fan Hurricane Fan Assembly!!!
