🌴🐒 360° Views of the Famous Monkey Island – Homosassa, FL 🐒🌴

Check out this stunning 360 aerial shot of Monkey Island, a tiny slice of Florida history right in the middle of the Homosassa River! 🏝️🚁

This island may be small, but its story is WILD – literally! Back in the 1960s, monkeys were relocated here by Dr. John N. Hamlet to keep them from escaping during behavioral studies at the nearby Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park. Since then, it’s been their private jungle gym 🐵💪 – complete with a lighthouse, climbing toys, and year-round river views!

Today, the island is maintained by the Homosassa Riverside Resort, and it’s still home to a few of our furry little legends. 🐒 It’s one of Florida’s most unique and beloved hidden gems, and Flying High In Florida is proud to share its story from the sky! 🌅✨
