Lydia Ann Channel Fleet As one of the largest fleets in Texas our mission is to effectively and safely serve our customers. LAC Fleet monitors VHF Channel 72 twenty four hours a day.

The New Lydia Ann Channel Fleet is located across from the Port Aransas Light House just off the south bank of San Jose Island between beacons 97 and 101. Located on the preferred route for inland mariners traveling to the Port of Corpus Christi, the LAC Fleet is only a few hours away from the harbor, yet is out of the way of ship traffic. The Lydia Ann Channel Fleet consists of over 8500 linear f

eet of steel moorings driven a minimum of thirty feet below the mud line with a minimum controlled depth of twelve feet of water. There are no buoys or lines to shore that will damage or ground equipment. Crew boats and a 1200 hp push boat are available twenty-four hours a day to both ensure the safety and security of all equipment as well as provide round the clock access to that equipment. The LAC Fleet management team has over sixty-five years of experience in the marine industry–from fleeting to towboat management. We strive to provide the best service possible, and our team is in constant contact with customers’ logistics groups and the Corpus Christi Harbormaster–ensuring that equipment is always available when called to dock.

🚨 Boating Safety Reminder – Fourth of July Weekend 🇺🇸
From the Wheelhouse | Lydia Ann Channel Fleet
As we head into one of the busiest weekends of the year on the water, we want to share a few boating safety tips from our vantage point.
📸 These photos are from the wheelhouse of a working towboat, navigating the same channels, bays, and coastlines you’ll be enjoying this weekend. What we see from up here could save a life and we hope you’ll take a second to see it our way.
Whether you’re cruising on a pleasure craft, anchored to watch fireworks, or spending the day fishing with family, please keep safety your top priority.
⚓ Top Boating Safety Tips from Maritime Professionals:
🔹 Wear a Life Jacket
No excuses. Make sure everyone onboard, especially children, has a properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket.
🔹 Stay Sober
Boating under the influence is just as dangerous and illegal as driving under the influence. Alcohol impairs coordination and reaction time.
🔹 Keep a Proper Lookout
Jet skis, paddleboards, swimmers, and kayaks can appear out of nowhere. Increased traffic = increased risk. Stay alert.
🔹 Give Commercial Vessels Room
Towboats and barges can’t stop or turn on a dime. Please don’t try to pass too close or cut across our bow. Respect the working traffic.
🔹 File a Float Plan
Let someone know where you’re going and when you plan to return. This simple step can make all the difference in an emergency.
🔹 Know Your Navigation Rules
Understand right-of-way rules and practice defensive boating, especially in crowded channels.
🔹 Avoid Fireworks on the Water
Watch them from a safe distance and never launch them from or near a boat. Fire and water don’t mix.
🔹 Monitor VHF Channel 16
This is the emergency and hailing frequency. Keep it on at all times in case of distress calls or alerts.
