Although we are still building our NEW CABIN RENTALS!!!! 😎We have more exciting business expansion news to share! We are buying a decommissioned Cold War era Soviet Foxtrot Submarine for tours in Lake Clark National Park. This is going to be EPIC!
🚢 At 302 feet long and with a 25 foot beam this beast can accommodate up to 78 live aboard passengers and stay submerged for 5 days. We feel that this will allow maximum efficiency for our tours in all weather. East wind storms or rain? We won’t know as we will be cruising up to 870 feet below Lake Clark’s silty turquoise glacial waters.
🐘🐒Wildlife viewing will be ideal through the periscope. Since we will be submerged and at a distance, they will never know we are there! Truly a great way to observe bears, Hairyman and chickadees in their natural habitat.
🛶🚀Anyone wishing to kayak can enjoy a thrilling ride through one of the torpedo tubes. We simply load you into your kayak and launch you onto your grand paddling adventure.
Now you might be wondering about logistics and when we will be operational. While we do have some kinks to work out we think we have a solid plan and expect operations to be in full swing by mid-July. This rustic beauty is ready to go and being purchased through Nautrex in Alberta, Canada. We plan to have its 17 feet of draft scraping up the Kvichak River by June. With a little egging and daring, we think we can convince our local freight company in Iliamna to figure out a way to haul her over the Newhalen Portage Road. Anyone wishing to take advantage of one of our first bookings can use code OPERATIONFOXTROT for 10% off a calendar day kayak rental.
We can’t wait to get everyone out on The Durak! (aka The “Fool” in Dena’ina Athabaskan.)
