Had a great time talking with old friends & meeting new friends at the "Hang Loose" car show held around the square in Pontiac, last night ! This event was in memory of Donnie Myers & was for the Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County. The ol' Ford was given the "Best in Show" & "Best Paint" awards ! Wasn't expecting the awards & was really happy receiving them. Thanks to the show organizers for gathering some really cool custom cars & trucks for this event !

The Southeastern Hot Rod Show is gaining respect with every passing year with quality participating hot rods, both driven & show only ! This year's field was no exception as the winner of our J&B Microfinish "Best of Show" award for 2026 was given to Andrew Bowen's outstanding 32 roadster ! Andrew's traditional 32 roadster is a former AMBR award finalist & the detail of this meticulous build is a sight to behold. Kerbo's Kustom Klassics (Daniel Kerbo/owner) built the roadster with help from Andrew & Mike Walls. Andrew's roadster is a 12 year build compiling over 8000 hours in the build process. Some of the body detail includes a Brookville body, Henry frame, grill shell & firewall with a Rootleib 25 louvre hood, 2" chopped windshield, E&J type 20 headlights, King Bee fog light, 39 Lincoln Zephyr taillights & 34 Ford roadster door handles. The drivetrain consists of a 41 Merc Flathead (276 c.i.), Thickstun PM7 intake, Stromberg 97's, Hartman Collin's magneto, Fenton headers with stainless exhaust, 2 ps. oil pan with an 11" clutch, 39 top loader trans with Zephyr gears, Halibrand 201 QC rear, 39 rear axle bells/custom stainless front axle & radius rods, every fastener is polished stainless & clocked, Aircraft oil & fuel filters & 40 Ford (drilled) wheels. The interior appointments are a 33 Dodge gauge panel, 32 Ford steering column & box, steering wheel shrunk to 15", 32 pedals, Townsend cowhide leather & German square weave carpet. Congratulations to Andrew Bowen & the crew at Kerbo's Kustom Klassics in building & presenting a truly fine 32 Ford hot rod very deserving of the 2026, J&B Microfinish "Best of Show" award !

Kelly & Darla Moore's outstanding 40 Ford has recently been updated with a new steering wheel & road wheels & here's a pictorial view of them installed on this beautiful street rod ! Wanting to keep the theme more uniform, Kelly designed a shift k**b that corresponded with his new changes & asked me to handcraft his concept into reality. To add function & detail Mark Cline of Creative Engraving and Metal Works was asked to laser engrave the shift pattern into the top of the k**b. This 40 Ford was one of two cars that I judged to be the 2021 "Craftsmanship Award" winner(s) & by looking at the depth of detail this car represents it's evident of the attention to detail that it displays & the workmanship involved. Along with the new updates I've also included other photographed pieces that Kelly & I collaborated our thoughts on, including the "All American" inspired interior lights, A.A. engine cover emblems, the rear A.A. inspired taillight trim, A.A. lower, front fender trim with LED lights, license plate bracket & the rear console panel. The City of Pontiac was lit up with hot rods of many types, today ! Here's a "few" of the over 5000 participants that drove from the Rt. 66 Raceway to Pontiac with a final daily destination at the Air Force Base in Rantoul. The Hot Rod Power Tour staff celebrated the Rt. 66 Centennial by plotting a course that focuses mainly on driving the Mother Road as much as possible. The HRPT will end in Tulsa, Oklahoma this upcoming weekend. Spent the day with good friends & had a great time on part of the Rt. 66 highway that was once part of the four lane Mother Road !

The Southeastern Hot Rod Show was a happening event this year & here is the first segment of event photos highlighting the awesome hot rods that participated ! On Thursday I'll be featuring, with photos & text, the SEHRS/ J&B Microfinish "Best of Show" winner that has a very successful past ! The winning car is quite a hot rod & one you won't want to miss. Special thanks to photographers Marty Crain, Doug Mills, Anthony Bell, Bill Porteous, Shaun Stoger & Spearman Speed Shop Designs for covering this event in grand style.

Hotrodders through the years have had a thought process that being involved with hot rodding keeps the enthusiast young at heart & in spirit. Such is the case with the owner of this awesome 34 Ford sedan. Ron Davis & the life he has lived is an inspiration to many including me ! Ron's 34 Ford goes beyond being a show winner, as most every part of his hot rod has been carefully thought out & has his personal touches throughout. Ron & I became friends years ago & along the way we have had good conversations about what his hot rod needed for not only aesthetics but also function & safety. Ron drives his 34 Ford to every show & was experiencing rear vision issues that were in need of addressing. One of the first vision issues fixed was handcrafting an interior rear view mirror mount that I made that had a flat mount that was glued to the windshield. The next vision issue was the door outside mirrors, as Ron bought a pair of swan neck style mirrors that didn't have enough angular adjustment to align the mirror with where Ron sat in the car. Many of the hot rod style mirrors available, don't have enough angular adjustment, especially when it comes to the passenger side of a given car. After some careful testing & mocking up of the angle while Ron sat in the driver's seat we came up with the proper alignment angle & from there, I handcrafted one off bases with angled inserts to resolve the rear vision issue of the drivers & passenger's sides. A special thanks to Ron Davis as we have worked very well together through the years ! I've included photos of most of the parts that were handcrafted for Ron's 34 Ford in this post.
