This unique, full service motorcycle shop is located on scenic Highway One in southern Mendocino County. Nestled in the historic coastal town of Point Arena, the shop specializes in vintage to modern European motorcycles, though all major brands of bikes are welcomed. The shop name reflects not only a love of the Robert Pirsig book, but a belief in Zen Business Practices; Quality Services at Fair Prices. Instead of exploiting customers, The Zen House owners, David Harris and Kelley Litle, believe businesses should establish mutually beneficial, long-lasting relationships with their clients. Motorcyclists from around the Globe, enjoy the twisty, scenic roadways that lead one to The Zen House. After enjoying hot coffee and Zen hospitality, Zen House clients are able to enjoy the historic coastal town while their bikes receive a full service from an internationally renowned Master Mechanic. Local attractions include an historic Lighthouse; The B Bryan Preserve; and The Arena Cove, a Mecca for Fishermen, Bird Watchers, Rock Hounds and all around Nature Lovers. In addition to local dinning and shopping there is plenty to keep visitors engage, whether they stay a few hours or a few days.

Duncan’s 860 GT carries its value in the miles, the history, and in the fact that he cared enough to bring it nearly 900 miles from Idaho and trust us with it.

Some motorcycles are valuable because of what they are. Others because of whose they were.

When Vincent’s family left Italy for Australia, his father’s little 1954 Ducati 98 remained behind. Years later, Vincent finally found his way back to it.

It arrived at The Zen House as a basket case—boxes of pieces carrying a family history worth considerably more than the motorcycle’s market value.

Now, one careful piece at a time, his father’s Ducati is coming back together.

Not every Ducati became an icon. Some became beloved by the people who chose them.

This 1975 Ducati 860 GT came to us from Moscow, Idaho. What began as an engine rebuild grew into a much deeper recommissioning…wheels, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, ignition, and the long list of details involved in putting a fifty-one-year-old motorcycle properly back on the road.

Here, Dave is finishing one of those details.

After plenty of test miles and break-in time, this 860 GT is nearly ready to go home.

And its owner plans to ride it there.

Back to Moscow, Idaho.
