The 70-Year-Old Collector Who Drives Every One of Her 50 Cars Because Joy Matters More Than Value
Most collectors hide their treasures behind velvet ropes.
But not 70-year-old Jane Weitzmann.

She doesn’t just own her 50-vehicle collection, a lineup that includes everything from a $1.5 million Toyota 2000GT to a wooden car she drives every single one of them. Regularly.

For Jane, a lifelong car lover from Evesham, Worcestershire, the joy has never been in hoarding machines but in feeling them come alive on the road.

“I’ve been collecting almost all of my adult life,” she said. “My dad was into Jaguars, my brother was into them, and my late husband loved cars too. We started collecting early on, and it just grew.”

Grow it did.
Six years ago, she moved into her current home and built a 65-car garage simply to house her passion, a space that now holds motorbikes, scooters, and 40 classic cars she rotates onto the road every eight weeks to three months.

Because what’s the point, she insists, if you don't actually drive them?

“Collectors should get out and enjoy their cars,” Jane said. “It does them no good sitting inside doing nothing. They need to be cared for by being driven.”

Among her favorites is a surprising choice: a 1999 Ford F-150 Lightning, loud, imperfect, powerful, and exactly the kind of truck that begs to be pushed.

“It’s not as valuable as some of the others, so I can really play with it,” she laughed. “It has a supercharged 5.4-liter engine. She doesn’t handle in any way, shape, or form, and that’s what makes her so much fun.”

Another gem: her Datsun 240ZG, a car she dreamed of owning as a young girl but couldn’t afford. Now, she calls it “glorious to drive.”

But Jane’s choices aren’t based on rarity, prestige, or future value.

She buys one thing: joy.

“For me, it’s all about the driving. You can be in a foul mood, go out in a fabulous car, and come back in a great one.”

Her collection is vast, eclectic, and deeply personal, a garage full of memories, horsepower, and emotion. And if a car stops making her smile?

“It gets sold. It isn’t about investment. It’s about enjoyment.”

At 70, with 50 vehicles and decades of stories behind each, Jane isn’t slowing down.
In fact, she’s still adding to the garage and giving each machine the same thing she always has:
