It's not a secret, but it's our story. We got our name directly from where we are—the mouth of the Platte River!

Long before roads, the junction of the Platte and Missouri Rivers was the heart of this region. It was a vital landmark, even serving as a campsite for the Lewis and Clark expedition in July 1804.

We love diving into the archives at the Plattsmouth Historical Museum and seeing this antique etching display. From these river origins to the community we love today, we're proud to be part of Plattsmouth's story.
