Here is one small restoration detail that is easy to underestimate: a door panel clip does not have to snap completely in half to need replacement.

Cracks, brittle plastic, corrosion, missing pieces, and visible distortion are all signs worth checking once the panel comes off. Some vehicle-specific retainers may also be designated for one-time use.
