Over the last month, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to travel throughout Western Africa, experiencing different cultures, landscapes, and communities. I of course couldn’t help but notice all the different tire shops along the way.
Most were very small operations, many didn’t even have buildings—just a patch of ground, a few tools, and stacks of tires.
What really stood out was that every tire being sold was used. People making the most of what they have, repairing and reusing tires for as long as possible.
Seeing it firsthand gives you a new appreciation for the resources, products, and services we often take for granted. No matter where you are in the world, tires keep people moving—but not everyone has the same access to them.
This trip was a great reminder to be grateful for what we have and the industry we’re proud to be a part of.
No matter the country, language, or road conditions, tires play a vital role in connecting people to work, family, and opportunity. It was fascinating to see how these businesses serve their communities and tackle unique challenges on the road.
I’m excited to bring back new perspectives and appreciation for an industry that connects people around the world.
