Another one saved and back on the road!! This car is FAR from done but itβs running & driving. After an 8 year slumber and becoming a mouse mansion/buffet a few simple fixes got her back on the road.
Started out having the owner do a complete vacuum and a complete disassembly of the interior. Since heβs a good friend of mine it didnβt feel right letting him go in blind with minimal resources. So we kept it on the trailer under the carport to keep the heat out of it and have a little more elevation. Weβre 30 now, we do anything to save on the back muscles π
After he was done with that I was able to diagnose the previous problem (the reason he parked it) as well as a few new issues it had after sitting. I installed a new ignition switch, battery, battery terminals, I fixed some mouse damage on the fan wiring harness and had to install a completely new main power wire from the battery to the main power block that sends 12V into the dash fuse panel. As well as replacing some fuses and knocking corrosion out of miscellaneous plugs. After that it fired right up as if it was on the road a week ago.
We installed brand new tires, did a complete oil change thanks to our friends over at Valvoline Global Operations, Shampooed the front seats and reinstalled them temporarily so it was able to be moved around. It successfully made a 15 minute trip back to its home where the restoration continues.
Iβm not an IROC-Z guy, but this is by far the nicest one Iβve come across, even after sitting in a barn for 8 years. Im super excited to watch this build continue on and be apart of something that meant so much to the owner. π
