🐻🚚 A Hunting Trip Gone Bad… Until Jim’s Showed Up
When the customer shook Brandon’s hand, he immediately realized it was covered in blood.
For a brief moment, he wondered if this recovery call had just become an emergency.
Thankfully, it wasn’t.
It was bear blood.
Not every recovery happens on I-90.
Sometimes it starts with a phone call that sounds something like:
“Well… we’re about 10 miles up a logging road, then you take a left at Susie’s, another left at the old stump, three more turns after that, and if you hit civilization, you’ve gone too far…”
Recently, Brandon and Driver Steve were dispatched deep into the backcountry for what can only be described as a hunting trip gone bad. A truck had become hopelessly stuck miles from anywhere, and the hunters needed help getting back to the real world.
After navigating a maze of forest roads that would make a GPS cry, Brandon and Steve finally arrived on the scene.
The customer was beyond excited to see help arrive. She jumped out of his truck, walked up to Brandon, and enthusiastically shook his hand.
A few seconds later, Brandon noticed something felt… wet.
He looked down.
His hand was covered in blood.
The customer quickly laughed and explained:
“Oh, that’s bear blood.”
As it turned out, the hunters had recently harvested a bear and were in the process of getting it out of the woods when the truck became stuck.
At that point, Brandon figured he was committed.
While Steve worked on getting the truck recovered, Brandon jumped in and helped load the bear. Before long, the truck was free, the hunters were loaded up, and everyone was headed safely home.
