THANK YOU TO THE FAMILY OF KATHY RAE MAHTO — GOOD WOLF WOMAN

One of the special moments of our 10th Annual Indian Relay Championship of Champions came from the family of Kathy Rae Mahto — Good Wolf Woman.

Kathy loved Indian Relay. For more than 15 years, she and her family followed the races, and she especially enjoyed watching the growth of Women’s Relay and seeing our young people become part of the sport.

In Kathy’s memory, her family joined us on Championship Sunday to honor our 2026 Women’s Indian Relay Champion, Oo Vee Das of the Eastern Shoshone, presenting the team with a Rodeo Sisters Pendleton blanket, a satin star quilt and $5,000 cash.

To Kathy’s daughters Nichole and Heather, son-in-law Kenneth, her brother Carlisle and his wife Carmen, granddaughters Kieran and Khalan, and great-grandchildren Uriah, Alzadden and Neveah — thank you.

Thank you for bringing Kathy’s memory to Cheyenne and allowing it to become part of our 10th Championship. Your generosity made an already special Championship moment mean even more.

Kathy’s love for Indian Relay continues through her family, and we were honored to share that moment with you.
