There’s something about this life that has a way of coming full circle. No matter how many years pass or how much changes, I always seem to find my way back to the same place, buying and selling Harley parts. It’s not just a business to me, it never was. It’s a feeling, a rhythm, a part of who I am.

This is really where it all began, the early days of Choppers Cycle Parts, long before there was a name for it, just a passion and a couple of guys chasing it.

Back in the early 70’s, my brother Dan Roche and I would head out across the Midwest, no real schedule, just a truck, a bit of cash, and a shared instinct for finding something special. Swap meets, small-town Harley dealers, backyards, barns, and wherever word would lead us. We weren’t just looking for parts, we were chasing stories, history, and the characters who had lived it.

We’d meet old-timers who had spent a lifetime collecting, guys who had quietly built up treasures you wouldn’t believe.

I remember Harold Eidee in particular, standing among what felt like mountains of history, six-foot-high piles of engines, cases, and frames stacked like they were nothing. At the time, it almost seemed endless. Today, it feels priceless.

I often catch myself wishing I had held onto more of those parts. Not just for what they’d be worth now, but for what they represented. Each piece had a story, and somehow, we were part of it.

But more than anything, it was the journey. Every trip was an adventure, the kind you don’t fully appreciate until years later when the memories settle in and take on a life of their own.

And through it all, Dan was right there beside me. Sixty years later, I can still say the same thing, he was, and still is, the best traveling partner a guy could ever ask for.

Looking back now, those weren’t just trips… they were the foundation of everything that followed.

How did your Harley story begin?

Every rider remembers their first bike….

I started riding 60 years ago and opened my first shop Choppers Cycle in 1970 in Winnipeg Canada, the same year I purchased my first Harley a 1954 Panhead chopper.

I was going to buy a Norton Commando but when I walked into Chariot Cycle on Selkirk Ave with a pocket full of cash was told to get lost because they didn’t have time for me. So I walked 3 blocks to Canadian motorcycle Sales and talked to Right-on Joe who gladly sold me a badass 1954 Panhead chopper and the best part was it was $350 less than the Norton.

This will be a day I will never forget. Shorty Hoffman should me how to start the Pan by retarding the distributor, give it 3 prime kicks, turn the ignition on kick it and hope it starts.

My new chopper had a 14 over Harley Springer with 40 Ford radius rods used to extend it, su***de clutch with an early jockey shift that did not have a ratchet top so finding neutral before stopping was a challenge.

I remember coming to a red light more than one time having one foot on the clutch and the other on the brake and no neutral, which lead to me falling over or stalling the bike….

Unfortunately, there’s no photo of that first bike, but here’s one from the shop around that time.

What was your first bike?
Still have any old photo of it?

Today, I Am Awake to the Infinite Possibilities of Life

"Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." — Buddha

As I awaken this morning, I take a moment to set my intention for the day. Yesterday is complete—its lessons have shaped me, but I release it fully. I step into today with renewed energy, free from fear and doubt. The past holds no power over me, and I do not fret about the future, for I know that how I live today shapes what is to come.

With every breath, I am Divinely energized and guided. If I face a challenge, I pause, turn inward, and trust that the perfect solution is already within me. I am supported, supplied, and connected to an Infinite Source of Wisdom.

Today, I Choose to Live Fully

I release all fear, doubt, stress, and worry—anything that does not serve my highest good. I embrace this day with excitement, joyful anticipation, peace, faith, and trust.
As my day unfolds, I hold onto this truth:

Nothing outside of me can shift my course unless I allow it. I remain centered, present, and open to the beauty of this moment.

Today, I rise to a higher level of consciousness and expression. I refuse to be held hostage by the past or gripped by fear of the future. This day is a sacred gift, an opportunity to share my God-given talents, to love deeply, and to live with purpose.

I am so Grateful to know this Truth, My Truth.

And so it is.

Namaste.

I move with ease, I enjoy what I do, I attract the results I desire, and I am deeply grateful.

The Evolution of the Harley FL series

The Evolution of the Harley FL series
Touring on the old Harley Davidson FL models, with the rigid mount engine and 4 speed transmission was very taxing on the rider’s body. The vibration that one felt in their hands and feet was very numbing. For most riders traveling above 60 miles an hour for long periods was out of the question.

In 1980 Harley introduced the new and improved Tour Glide FLT. This brand new model was equipped with a 5 speed transmission, rubber mount drive train in a new redesigned frame, larger saddlebags that stayed locked, dual disk upgraded forks with reverse triple trees and frame mount fairing. This new Harley was a dream to ride for touring.

t was odd that many old Harley riders rejected the new improved Harley. The Tour Glide FLT is what today is known as the very popular Road Glide.

The FLHT was introduced in 1983. This was an Electra Glide based on the FLT Tour Glide frame, but using the Electra Glide "batwing" fairing instead of the Tour Glide frame-mounted fairing.

1984 was the last year for the rigid mount Harley FLH and the shovelhead.

In 1985 Harley replaced the Shovelhead with the new and improved Evolution engine. The new Harley Evolution was an 80 inch 1340 cubic centimeter engine that quickly took on the name the Evo. The Evo had major advances over the shovelhead.

The Evo was quickly embraced for its reliability, oil tightness, and ability to be run hard under all kinds of circumstances for tens of thousands of miles farther than any of its predecessors.

The engine cases were upgraded and the cylinders of the Evolution engine were made from aluminum to reduce weight and heat compared to a cast iron design of the Shovelhead, Panhead and Knuclehead engines.

The Evo was a more reliable than the shovelhead and had more potential for high performance upgrades. With the more comfortable ride people now wanted to go travel faster on the highways so many high performance and custom parts started appearing on the market.

As time went on riders started calling the touring models baggers.

If you are repairing, customizing or adding high performance upgrades to your Harley FLT or FLH and need parts please check out our site www.ezshopco.com just mouse over touring bagger section and pick your year

Welcome to EZ Shop Marketplace!

I'm Yale Gelfant, a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, custom bike builder, and passionate supporter of the Harley community. My journey began back in 1970 when I opened Choppers Cycle Parts with two close friends, Joe Schab and Gerhart Neeth. Although we had plenty of fun, our youthful love for adventure sometimes took precedence over business, and after a year, we closed Choppers.

In those days, finding custom Harley parts was a challenge. Harley dealers stocked only their own parts, and ordering by mail meant waiting six weeks or more for custom pieces to arrive. From the start, my mission has been clear: to provide fast, reliable access to Harley custom parts and accessories for riders who want to personalize their bikes without the wait.

My brother, Dan Roche, and I often traveled to the U.S.—especially to Minneapolis—to source Harley bikes, parts, and accessories for our customers. While we had a good time on the road, we never lost sight of our business. After Choppers closed, I continued selling parts and building bikes from home until 1978, when I launched Cycle Tramps, a more focused and successful venture. After two years of thriving business, I sold the shop and returned to running things from home.

In 1999, with the rise of the internet, I saw a new opportunity to bring my passion to a global audience. I launched chopperscycle.com, and with the help of my friend Mike Fodey, we watched it grow into a thriving business that shipped parts and accessories worldwide. We even expanded into a U.S. sales office and warehouse in Las Vegas. After a successful run, I sold Choppers in 2007 to pursue other interests.

In 2010, I opened Yale Custom Cycles (YCC), a custom service and parts shop that I ran with my daughter, Tamara—one of the most knowledgeable Harley parts experts I’ve ever known. We successfully operated YCC for six years until we closed the shop when our building was sold.

Now, in 2024, I’m proud to reintroduce ChoppersCycle.com under a new name and with a fresh look: EZ Shop Marketplace (ezshopco.com). We offer a vast selection of Genuine Harley Parts, Custom, Performance Parts, and Accessories—all at discounted prices. We’re also working with dealers who are no longer with Harley to help move their inventory.

Whether you're looking to personalize, repair, restore, or upgrade your Harley or custom bike, EZ Shop Marketplace is here to help. Feel free to reach out—I’m always happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks for stopping by,
